SLI cooling inquiry

I plan to get a SLI configuration for my new comp as well; however, there is one concern.

I planned to use Zalman VF700-Cu vga cooler for 6800GT and plan to put another one in future for upgrade. However, will it even fit ?

I mean, lets say this is the motherboard, then, the cooler will be attach to the card, then

6800GT and Zalman [maybe there is lil space left] 6800GT and Zalman

Is this even possible to fit all these 4 things on a motherboard? or I don't need 2 cooler for SLI, I should just use one instead.

(Don't plan to use water cux its not convinent)

or there are other method of cooling made for SLI?

you must be careful of what SLI MB you get when using large coolers. The asus SLI boards have two slots in between the the PCIE slots where as my dfi only has 1. Needless to say there is no way a 2 slot cooler would fit on my mb.
 
Wow im really tired... I read the title of this thread as "SLI cooling injury." I pictured someone getting their fingers mashed in a fan. must be one helluva powerful fan... k i sleep now.

You have to be careful, it depends on the motherboard.

I have 2 bgf6800gt's and two Zalman 700's on an MSI motherboard.

I had to mount the support bracket on the lower card upside down, plus bend it a bit to make sure the fan on the top board would not touch it. On top of that, the sli connector is not flexable, so it's hard to find extra space between the boards. If it were just for the slots, the boards could have been mounted slightly off perpendicular to the mb, however as I mentioned the sli bridge prevents that.

I also had to place a 'spacer' between the boards at the power connector end of the boards to prevent them from sagging into eachother and the top fan hitting the back bracket of the bottom card. not the ideal solution. I don't think there is any good way of cooling these cards by air! Not witht he MSI motherboard. NOT ENOUGH SPACE! My top card is always SUPER hot (70's). That is because the heat radiating from the back of the bottom card goes DIRECTLY into the fan of the top card. Poor design!

Koolance has a water kit out that looks like it will fit. I just don't currently have a water solution in my case. I'll probably head that way as heat from the summer picks up!
 
Actually, come to think of it, a hybrid solution may work as well. Have an Arctic at the bottom, and dhes the heat out of your case, then a vf700 on the top card. I may go pick up an arctic tonight and try that out
