SLI Bridge Question

Simple question.

Can those 3 Way SLI bridge connectors that come with mobo's be used with only 2 cards. In the top and bottom slots with no card in the middle?
 
The answer varies based on who you ask, I have not seen an official response to this question which was posed years ago and many times since. I have seen some data to show that using 2 bridges with 2 cards hurts performance slightly (but within margin of error) compared to a single bridge.

The best thing to do is go buy a bridge from your local shop - they're ten bucks and hook it up to the two slots closest to the back of your case IMO.

Well i will be able to tell people in a week. Just ordered my second 460 and a flexible 2 port SLI bridge. The reason i wanted to know if the 3 way that comes with the mobo works is because it looks of higher quality than the flexible one i ordered.

It's just a bus - shouldn't make a difference if it is on hard pcb or inside of the flexible plastic. Either way it is not really shielded. Just don't let your cats in your computer and you are good 🙂

Lol my cat actually used to sit on my computer. Then i overclocked the CPU/GPU and turned all the case fans to full speed and put some delta fans in it, now its so loud it scares my cats so i should be good i guess 🙂
