SLI and video-out question

I've got one 8800gt, which I have cabled to my tv to watch programs/movies I download. I've been considering going SLI but have read when SLI is enabled you cannot have multiple video outs. Considering I have to flip a hardswitch on the mobo to enable SLI and would not want to do that every time I wanted to go back to non-sli so I could watch a show thru video-out to my tv, I was wondering if simply disabling SLI in the software would re-enable multiple monitor capabilities?

Long ago, Nvidia drivers negated the requirement for changing hardware to disable SLI, it's all software now.

My MSI p6n SLi has a switch on the mobo that must be flipped over to enable SLI on the mobo. My question is if I do that, install 2 cards, can I then enable video-out by disabling SLI in the software, since I understand you can't do multimonitor with SLI running.

I would assume so, since then each card would function as if it was a single card. I've used Asus mobos that had a dongle on the mobo that you had to remove, flip over and reinstall to switch into/out of SLI...and the do the software change The Nvidia 90 series (or so) drivers made the dongle unnecessary.
