Im thinking about sleeving my psu to help clean up this horrible clutter i have in my case. I already have the sleeves as it came with my mobo. Im just wondering do i HAVE to remove my molexes and my power connectors? I dont want to do that cause: 1. Im lazy. 2: i dont have the molex removal tool to make everything easier.

Most sleeving requires that you remove the connector shells. Unless you want really sloppy looking sleeving... So pop for the tools or do as G-Y suggested.

I didn't have the time to do the two in my machine, so I just sent them in to Performance PCs and had them sleeved. I was thinking about getting them made modular as well. Decided against it though. I might do it to the secondary PSU sometime though. Would be so much neater on the PSU side of the case.

If you don't want to remove the connectors, you cannot use heat shrink to tidy up the ends- however, you can cover up the body of the wire with this product: F6

You can then think of some creative way to wrap up the ends. Velcro wrap works well.

It is still a tedious process, though.

I ended up just getting a Thermaltake power supply with all-sleeved cables. However, you should try plastic ties. Those may not look as clean but at least they do something.

Perfomance PC's does a great job. I recommend them if don't want to do it yourself.

Agreed. Do it right or don't do it at all.

I bought the Sunbeamtech tool kit from Performance-PC's and I'm actually in the process of doing one right now. I'm going to put up a how-to when I'm done with it.

In the past I've gotten by with wallowed out ink-pen refills, tweezers and needles. But when you have the whole toolkit made just for removing Molexes.. OH MY GOD it's so much easier!! :D

I'm actually going all of the way with this mod. I'm cutting the wires to exact lengths, removing un-needed wires at the PSU PCB, crimping my own Molex pins onto the wires, sleeving, replacing Molexes w/ UV reactive, the whole nine. It's really quite easy and is NOT tedious IF you have the right tools.

Well i did it, got a molex remover and wow i will never do it again. First off all, a few of my power wires were stuck in the molex, so i had to litterally destroy my molexes to get the power wire out. Then after it was hard as hell to get the heatshrink over the wires and it didnt even shrink enough to really secure the sleaving. It got really annoying so i just took the tie wraps and used that.

maybe the whole kit would be better, but for now, i dont think ill ever do it agian

Depends on the quality of the tools you are using.

if you buy nickel and dime tools as in the cheap removers then i say it serves you right!!

This truly is one job where you get what you payfor!!

I'm curious because I want to know what out there sucks! :p

I used AC Ryan Molexes, pins (not the gold plated ones) from Performance-PC's, toolkit from Sunbeamtech and a sleeve kit from Ultra which came with four diff size sleeves and three diff size heatshrinks.

Couldn't go smoother. Every single Molex popped right off. If I hadn't cut my wires to length I could've easily used the over and over again.

If kits vary THAT MUCH from one to another, I want to make sure I know so I know what to avoid and warn others against!!!

I have done my share of sleeving generic PSU`s and I will tell you right now anything thats cloth with anything sticky on it is real bad news.

Alot of times that sticky stuff over time likes to ooze out of the cloth covering and really can make for a nasty mess!!

It really doesn`t matter what adhesive you use...over time it will bleed out from under the cloth...thus a very yucky mess.

Are you sure that there aren't any adhesives that behave other than how you describe?
