I'm just getting used to my new SB build, win7pro running on a p8p67 deluxe. On my old win xp machine, when it woke up there was no delay in getting connected to the internet (my PC is on 24/7). On this new one, it looks like it is reconnecting at wakeup and takes about 20 seconds to reestablish a connection with the router. I use the same fixed IP arrangement as the old machine. I suppose it is just possible that the new machine is waking up faster so I notice it, but I would think that the connection would be maintained to it is ready to go on wake (or is it that the router is dropping the connection when the pc goes to sleep?) in any case, is there a way to maintain this connection for quicker access on wake up, and if so would it be the router or pc?? If the only way around this is to not have the pc sleep I'll live with the connection delay...

Not sure for the delay but if your using static IP's you could disable the DHCP service on Win7 and also disable DHCP on the router on your LAN side.

Also could have something to do with the power management of the network connection which is delaying your connect to internet. You could try to play with the settings under the properties of your network connect in hardware manager.

"about 20 seconds to reestablish a connection".

Wow that is Not good it is one of the signs in Nostradamus prophecy that leads to the End of the world. :hmm: - :hmm:

In any case try these.

Uncheck the Network Card's Power Saving (I.e., do not let the card save power).
There might be some variations on where the Power saving setting is.
Here are few examples, YMMV, look around in your systems.

Still a problem?

Check the Router's support, and make sure that your using the latest firmware for the Router.

Check the Computer's manufacturer support site and make sure that you are using the latest Drivers.

Download the drivers and unpack them to a folder of your choice.

In the Device manger, right click on the adapter.

Click on Update Drivers, and choose the Browse my computer for drivers,

Choose let me pick from a list, Click on Have a Disk and point to the folder with the Drivers.

There was an "allow energy efficient ethernet" and I've unchecked that, we'll see what happens there first & I'll report back...
thanks
