Sleep problems are becoming seriously annoying, should I see a doctor?

My sleep schedule is FUBAR.

Three nights ago I went to sleep at around 4AM and slept for about 3 hours. Later I took a nap around 1PM, slept for 5 hours. That night I stayed up all night, unable to fall asleep until the NEXT night, where I feel asleep around midnight for about 6 hours of sleep. Last night I went to sleep around 2AM for another 6 hours of sleep. Tonight it's 6AM and I'm still not asleep, show no sign of fatigue.

The semester starts in less than 3 weeks. These sleep problems are insane. This month has not been stressful at all (no job, no school, doing some laid-back research for a professor). If I have these problems during the semester, I'm going to end up skipping classes for every minute of sleep that I can get whenever I can get it, and that will be bad. This is my last year of college before grad school, and I'm taking two very difficult courses (one is grad-level quantum)

What can I do about this? Sleeping agents don't do anything. I can stay up as long as I want if I have enough caffeine and sugar (for sugar I like to eat an apple, keeps me fully alert for about an hour when I try to get back into a normal sleep schedule)

Quit all caffine. Do not sleep during the day at all... even if you got no sleep the night before.

Keep yourself busy during the day. Start an exercise routine.

Your problem is you allow yourself to take naps, and now your naps have become your sleep and your sleep time your naps.

Get your body on a real life schedule, and stop taking 5 hour naps in the middle of the afternoon.

I was in that position and what actually helped me (unlike any other OTC drug) is the walmart brand Equate Sleep Aid Liquidcaps. Take one of them about 1 hour before wanting to go to bed and it will drop you like a ton of bricks.
Nothing else I have tried works like these suckers do and they are cheap too, like $3 for 32 of them and you only take one.
