has anyone ever gotten this? It's very messed up. I've get it once in a while, and it's totally weird. It's like being totally zoned out and between the dream world and the real world.

Last night it happened to me, and it was probably the most intense one so far. Normally I just get the feeling of not being able to move, and this intense feeling something is going to happen, and I have to try to snap out of it by moving fast, but yet I can't but as I keep trying I do succeed.

This time there was actually someone in my room that was hugging me and whispering in my ear, I can't really recall any of the words, but the last words before the person left was "you're going to die tomorrow". This "person" was in no way threatening, it was more like the person was saying bye. I tried to snap out and the person laughed a bit, then I tried again, and in a flash, the person was gone, and I was just laying on the bed in the same position and everything.

The messed up part is while this sounds really creepy, when you're experiencing it, it actually is not. I had zero fear at the time. When I "woke up" of it, I was more or less thinking "wow, that was kinda weird" and that's it.

That's weird. :Q

Perhaps you had watched or were thinking of such an incident. I'm sure psychologists might explain the issue as one occurring because you had some dopamine stimulating your brain in a certain area.

Do you smoke marijuana a lot?

Interesting. I remember hearing music and voices in my sleep. I could have sworn I was awake. I woke up and know one was there.

Weird... I once had a dream after reading "The Man Who Mistook his Wife for a Hat" that I lost my sense of proprioception, and I woke up during the dream and still felt like I'd lost it all... I kept looking around at my arms and legs trying to tell them to move and got all weirded out.

I've had this several times.

The day after I did Extasy for the first time was the coolest. I was dosing off to sleep and then I heard a TV turn on...like an older TUBE tv...then static started to build up in my head. I couldn't move my body at all, and could bearly see out of my eye. All during this time I had a very euphoric feeling...then all of a sudden It felt like someone was shocking my brain. Similar to that when you get tricked with one of those pens that shock you. I had static and electricity flowing through my brain it was a real electric feel....all of a sudden the scariest darkest creepiest laughter started. static electricity all stoped and laughter from all around came. all sides. left right up down, ana kata. very overpowering but I kept resisting the laughter...I kept getting weaker and weaker....then I passed out.

EDIT: yeah i thought I would be freaked out, nope! I like when it happens...

Nope don't smoke weed, nor did I even watch any horror movies in a long time, and I don't even have any stress or anything that could maybe trigger dreams like this. What's weird though is that it's like the 3rd "Dream" I get that involves death. Maybe it's a sign... The last one was an actual dream and not paralysis. I was basically sitting on a chair, knowing I was about to get killed (in the dream it was some kind of routine thing, and I was not tied or anything) then my turn came up and I had this sudden feeling of joy that I was about to see Jesus when some guy walked behind me with a huge knife and was about to shove it in my skull. IRL I'd be terrified just from the whole situation and trying to get out, but in the dream it was like "oh, so it's my turn, ok, go for it". It's weird how in dreams the sense of fear is not present as much. Trying to remember my other recent one involving death. it's not coming to me now. The sleep and dream process sure is interesting.

it its fucking odd. My first sleep paralysis included Jesus!

Imagine this guys; getting sleep paralysis and having it involve Jesus/ God speaking to you. It messes with you because it is so real.
Basically the Jesus gave me a warning to get my shit together. and that He would not always be there to protect me....

Funny thing about it is. I didn't listen, and actually ended up messing up BIG. But thats another story.

I've had sleep paralysis where I just hear sound all over, most of the time though it does envolve evil things....or ideas.

I've had it for as long as I can remember, though the episodes have gotten more and more rare as I have gotten older. I probably experience it once every 2-3 months now. I remember when it used to be weekly.

Its like being awake but having no control over your muslces so you can't move. Horrible feeling.

i always experience that ^^

Humming, roaring, hissing, rushing and buzzing noises are frequent in conjunction with sleep paralysis (SP). This happens when the REM atonia sets in sooner than usual, before the person is fully asleep, or persists longer than usual, after the person has (in other respects) fully awoken.[30] SP is reportedly very frequent among narcoleptics. It occurs frequently in about 6% of the rest of the population, and occurs occasionally in 60%.[31]

that explains the static sound...

I only ever had it happen once.

I was asleep in my room and then half woke up into a sleep paralysis state. I was laying on my back but turned slightly to my right side. The window was on my left and the door was on my right by my feet.

I could see everything in the room in the morning twilight and the breeze coming in the window made the blinds move a little. The blinds cast a shadow from the streetlamp outside on the wall and I saw one of these shadows and my brain picked it up as someone entering my room through the door, walking past the foot of my bed, and then over behind me to the left by the window. I couldn't see this person, but became frightened and wanted to turn to see them.

It was at this point that I realized I was paralyzed. I kept trying to turn over but nothing would move. I then felt someone touch my face and I panicked. I tried desperately to move and felt my right arm jerk a little. I tried to swat the person's hand away and my arm came to life, slapping my face really hard.

That woke me up.

This happens to my mother frequently. I recall her waking up screaming as she sees figures move about around her in her bedroom. When I get there, no one is in there save her and my father. AFAIK, this has never happened to my father.

It happens to me as well, though far less frequently. It scares the living daylights out of you when you see some dark figure(s) standing over or around you and being unable to move while in bed. By the time you are able to move, the figure(s) vanishes. The times that it has occurred, I cannot make any details out of the figures, just shadowy humanoids. I could see how people think it to be alien visitation. Last time it happened, I could not go back to sleep because it scared me so bad, even-though I am well aware that it was simply sleep paralysis / nightmare hallucination. Does not make it any less pleasant when there is a perceived malevolent presence around you and you cannot move.

Glad they are gone by the time I can move, otherwise there would likely be several bullet holes in the walls.

Happens to me, and I think "crap, windows crashed again." Seriously, because that is what you think in that dream state.

I have had that once, laying down I woke up for a few minutes, not being able to control my body (talk, move lips, get up, anything at all except maybe move eyeballs, but that I'm not too sure of either). I felt really scared, and a dark figure appeared if I recall correctly.

I find it odd as reading all these stories really makes it sound freaky, but every time I experience it, I actually don't find it freaky, it's hard to explain. I've never actually seen a figure though, the closest was the one I had last night where someone was giving me a hug, so I only saw darkness as my face was blocked. Thinking about it is freaky, but when it's actually happening, I find it's not. I only realize it is sleep paralysis once I woke up from it though, at which point it's a bit freaky and I usually turn around so I can face the wall and not obscure/dark corners then go back to sleep.

Would be interesting if I could know I'm paralyzed while it's happening. I wonder if I could actually control what happens, like if I think of seeing something, and it actually happens.

I get it from time to time, every time i feel like I'm being watched by aliens intent on seeing if I will blink before they do. I blame it on copious amounts of X Files and something else I haven't yet figured out yet.

I only ever got it when slept on my back. I don't really sleep that way anymore so I haven't had it in a while. I've never felt there was anyone in the room when I've had it either.

Occasionally when it's hot I end up with sleep paralysis. I find the easiest way to break it is to roll myself out of bed. The feeling of falling will wake your brain right up.
Either that or I'll do a 'wiggle your big toe' type thing from kill bill.

I haven't experienced it in a while

last time was when I was in high school and it involved me being lifted out of my bed by some unseen force and being swung around in the air in the middle of my room

when I got around to finally waking up, the feeling that comes to mind was "whoa"

I've had sleep paralysis exactly once in my life. I woke up one morning at my then-girlfriend's house and I couldn't move. I could see the room around me, I could hear everything, but I couldn't move. I didn't have any hallucinations or anything, but the paralysis alone scared the crap out of me.
