Saw a lot of commercials and infomercials, but I was wondering, if anyone have used it. No one I know of have used something like this (though, I guess it really isn't marketed towards my age group). But I was wondering how is it compared to box spring? If it is really worth it?

Also I was looking at the purchasing option, is a Sleep Number Bed 'Foundation' really necessary? It says its recommended, but it seems more like a way to gouge money.

I have one and it's the best bed I've ever had....to sleep on. I used to have back problems but not so much anymore. Also, yes the foundation is a good thing to have. It won't work with a regular box springs.

I almost bought one a few weeks ago when QVC had them on "sale". Their "sale" price was about $1,800. Give me a break. It's basically an adjustable air mattress. If the price were closer to $1,000 I would probably buy one on-the-spot!

Well, the thing is, they seem to be having a mattress sale this weekend, where a queen size is $599. Seems like a decent deal

We have one and have had it for years. We both love it. The main thing is that it takes a bit to figure out what setting is best for you.. Have to start somewhere, give it a night or two, then adjust it and repeat. Some people use it one night and say they hate it and can't seem to figure out that it's adjustable specifically so that it can work for everyone.

Plus it lasts for a very long time.

We stayed at a Hotel in NYC a few years ago, and the sleep number bed was an option we could add. We got a room with this bed and it was very uncomfortable. Not to mention that it didn't work when we first got to the room; a tech had to come up and fix it.

I've only heard the radio ads for this thing. Is it like a super duper air mattress?

I don't think it specifically talks about sleep number beds, but here is an article from Slate about the differences between beds. I found it interesting enough to bookmark it for the future when we go bed shopping so others might be interested...
