sleep is taking longer then hibernate to resume

i recently upgraded my pc - new mobo, ram and cpu. For some reason, when i put the computer to sleep, it's actually taking longer to resume from sleep then it does when i use hibernate. Takes 31 seconds to resume from hibernate, and 36 from sleep. On the previous hardware, resume from sleep (or hybrid sleep) took 3-4 seconds.

The only setting in the bios i can think of is the acpi suspend type. I have that set to S3. S1 keeps the power in more of an on state when i put it to sleep. S3 is what i had it set to on the previous hardware.

current mobo is gigabyte GA-Z64MA-D2H-B3

I've updated to the latest bios, and i've installed all the mobo drivers.

Any ideas whats going wrong here?

Sounds like your rig is crying for a SSD 🙂

Did you do a fresh install of windows or a swap and pray?
I'm debating about getting an SSD and using with SRT. Too expensive to get one big enough to install windows on IMHO.

I did a swap and pray - and so far, this is the only issue i've encountered.

ill buy ssd when i can get a 120gb model for $60. because i think soon enough ssd's will be FAR cheaper to produce then hdd's, and they last longer so there will be slightly less demand.

Fresh install is always best when swapping MB combo's.

You could google for the show non-present devices trick and clean out the leftovers from your last MB combo. Just don't go delete crazy and you'll be fine.

yeah i know a clean install is always best. But honestly, swapping mobo's this time was WAY easier then i expected it to be. I did it once before with XP and that took some effort. Had to do a lot of digging in the registry and what not. This time, litterally all I did was install the mobo drivers and i was good to go, other then this one issue.

good idea about viewing hidden devices. Although i dont see anything in there that's obviously from the previous mobo.

I think i'll do a clean install of windows on another partition just to test if sleep works correctly. If not, then i know it's something with the mobo itself and not due to a migrated windows install.

Google the show non-present devices for instructions. By default you won't see anything. You need to do a couple things at command prompt to make them visible. You'll see alot once it's done correctly I'm sure. Pretty safe if done with some common sense.

oh i see - thats different then just showing hidden devices. I'll give that a try in a bit - downloading a large file right now and i dont feel like messing about until thats done.
Thanks for the suggestion

This is handy to remove all the superfluous entries such as keyboard, monitor, mouse, hard drive etc which have been redetected. Just rightclick and uninstall any devices which you are sure are not connected anymore.
Be careful not to remove any devices you're not sure about, some of them are meant to be hidden, are used by Windows and will cause big troubles if removed. The main purpose of this is to remove multiple entries of devices which have been unplugged and then plugged back in to a different port, eg. Mouse, keyboard.

I've done this many times and have never roached a windows install yet....By doing this at least 🙂

Start at the top and work your way down 1 section at a time. The old install ones will be greyed out.

These one's just leave as they pop up or will cause issues
Network Adapters ---> RAS Async Adapter
Non-Plug and Play Drivers ---> Fs_Rec
Sound, Video, and Game controllers ---> Anything that's grey out and starts with Microsoft

Some people frown on doing this as if a person gets carried away and starts deleting everything windows will not be bootable. If you happen to be color blind I could see how this could happen.
