I will do my homework in the public library, restaurants, or other places like that. Or maybe in a classroom at school or something (a classroom without a computer in it, since im addicted to the internet)

Thats sounds fine, so why can't you just use home to sleep in? A good nights rest will do a lot more for you than freezing your ass off in the back seat of a car.

Because when I sleep in my own bed, I sleep for 12 hours at a time, sometimes more. I dont want to get out of bed, because I have a day of school and schoolwork to face (my classes dont start til 11 each day, incase u guys were wondering)

I do this even when I have had plenty of sleep the whole week before. I tend to use sleep as an excuse to put off stuff. I probably only need around 8 hours of sleep.

Ok try the couch then or something. You'll be less likely to get sick or have a sore neck.

You could sleep in your car, but it's not very comfortable and you'll wake up tired. You could consider sleeping in your own room or at the library. Ask a bunch of friends to come wake you up.

I had to sleep in my car once when locked out. Was about 7 hours til my gf got home.

Went to sleep in the back seat, would wake up when it got cold, so i'd turn the engine on for maybe 15 minutes, then go back to sleep. Probly slept for an hour before getting cold again.

Dont worry about frostbite, you'll wake up long before getting that cold.

You can't catch a cold from just breathing cold air... how can people still believe this in 2005??

It won't GIVE you a cold, but it will make you a lot more susceptible.

Our couches at home are way too comfortable too! I mean the only option left is the floor, lol! But better just to stay out of the house period, that way i dont risk falling asleep on the couch or in my bed.

No you can't. Cold air doesn't give you a cold. Cold is a virus.

No offense, but it sounds like you need some sort of professional help, not advice on how to sleep in your car. If you literally can't possibly make yourself do things you know you have to do, but don't want to, that's not a good thing. Dodging the problem isn't a good idea, trust me, I know. In my first semester of college, I would just sit around doing nothing, even though I knew I had to study or whatever else I had to do. Not a good idea, removing the temptation doesn't help, you just need to get over it.

It was 10 degrees out, probably 5 below windchill on black friday, and I slept in my van in the best buy parking lot while my brother kept our place in line ;). If you want to be warm, just get a space heater for it.

Here's the short of it:

I need to concentrate on getting my homework done for the next week, and if I dont get things done I could fail my classes and that could be bad.

I have a SEVERE problem with procrastination. If I let myself go home, I am waaay too much at ease. Even if I go there just for the night, I wont get out of bed until late morning the next day.

I need to find some sort of solution to get my schoolwork done. I cant fail. I only got a semester left after this one, I need to pull through and get my degree, so I can be done with all this B/S

WTF.

Just WTF.

wtf is right.

Sleeping in a car will probably cause unnecessary stress. Just buckle down and do your dang homework. Will power.

Agreed, KrillBee, just look at what all you are putting yourself through to "get around" your real problem. Good luck.

Offense taken, whether it was intended or not.
You need professional help for even thinking to suggest that type of advice to me.

Its these types of comments that make me feel crappy about making this thread.

How about you attach a rope between yourself and the above person. Thanks.

The extremes we go to, to become a good student.

What can I say, for some people it takes more extreme stuff than others to get us to buckle down.

You'll be very chilled, atleast until you take a shower.

I slept outside when it was around 10 degrees F to get my 360 :)

Hide in the a stall in the men's room of your school library with your feet up. When it closes, whip out your . . . flashlight.

That's "flashlight", with an 'a'. ;)

That is like the most absurd reason for freezing your ass off in subzero temperatures for.

Agreed. Grab some coffee, go to an upstairs of a library that's secluded, and stay warm!

KS

Good advice. Screw that subzero temp sh1t! :p

I've done it before. It's not too bad. You HAVE to have good insulation though, like lots of blankets or a good sleeping bag. A coat will NOT suffice. If you do, make sure to leave one of your windows cracked open. If you don't, in the morning there will be a thick layer on condensation all along the INSIDE layer of your windshield, and it's a bitch to dry off, not to mention it'll leave streaks. I had to do this on numerous occasions. Once on the side of the road in the Adirondacks, once in a parking lot in the Adirondacks, once in the parking lot of a Adirondacks trail head, and once on my college campus after deciding I was too frugal to go to the hotel a few blocks away. On each occasion I had my 0 degree sleeping bag. Never turned the car on midway.

my recent study spot has been the local YMCA. There is a top floor up there that for the most part is pretty quiet (its a place where people can sit and wait for others to get done with there arobics classes and stuff like that)

I got a bit of work done there eariler today. No computers there at all, so I wasnt tempted to go on internet or waste time. It works well, but they close at 8 on Saturdays, and 10pm during the weekdays.

At night is the hardest time to find a place to study, since every place is closed!!
I think the only solution is to go into Perkins and order some food so you can sit there and do your work for a few hours.
Or study in your home if you can avoid distractions or falling asleep (and sleeping in the next day like crazy).
