For those of you who have read the book or seen the movie, I am trying to think of words to describe Billy Pilgrim. Anyone help? I was thinking something on the lines of crazy/imaginative, but that doesent really fit...perhaps schytzophrenic? I cant quite pinpoint the word...

I read it last year. Although some interesting events, it was a pretty dumb book. Psychotic, womanly, etc would probably describe Billy.

Did you know that parts of this story were actually true?

At least the part dealing with Dresden. Vonnegut was a POW in Dresden when the fire bombing occurred and the part about the other POW being shot as a "looter" actually happened.

I'm sure other parts were based on his life as well, but it's been a LONG time since I read the book.

For those who actually LIKE Vonnegut's style, may I suggest reading Tom Robbins.

I agree. Jutterbug Perfume was his first book that I read, and I was hooked.

The book is organized to exemplify his "stream of consciousness." Imagine you are inside of his mind, "seeing" his thoughts as they randomly appear. That's why the order of things doesn't make any sense...
