A) to add: toke; leaf

B) Its as much as a gateway as alcohol or tobacco, and people get "tired" of it just as often (ie not often.) If someone truely gets done with smoking it, they can just stop. Its really not that hard. Its nothing like tobacco. Oyur comparison made as much sense as, "hey that beer didn't do anything for me,.. maybe I'll just huff this paint...."

Yes, it is. Anybody who thinks otherwise is ignorant. Sooner or later, EVERYONE gets tired of pot. Then you "check "it" out" just once....and then $5,000, a fiancee, a job and an arrest record later....you agree with me.

When exactly will I be moving on to these harsher drugs?

Yeah Michael, you know you can't generalize like that.. We're all different. Any drug could be considered a gateway drug, really. I wonder if anybody has ever done any studies on the effect that taking up smoking has on whether an individual takes up drinking? ;)

I've got no problem with a beer and some d00bage, but I never have and never will touch any hard drugs. It just isn't my thing. :)

Do you want the real answer, or a BS "ATOT BS Answer?"

It's not as easy as that. It depends on many variables:

1. Your chemical makeup
2. Your subconscious yearning for new experiences
3. Your tolerance for foreign substances in your body
4. Your inquisitiveness for experimentation
5. Any combination/percentage of 1-thru-4

I'm dead serious. Drugs are for losers, period. Yes; I know that technically, Aspirin is a drug. Alcohol is a drug. So are vitamins (pills). Technically, any substance your human body does not natively produce is "a drug."

I'm talking:

Pot
Cocaine
Hash
Heroin
Meth
X
PCP
Blotter (and all other forms of LSD)

Pot is the easiest to obtain and the most socially acceptable of the drugs...besides alcohol. The same group of 50 friends you hit the 5-footer with might freak the hell out should you start freebasing. Your next group of friends might not blink twice should you base in front of them. You pick your fate...you pick your friends....it's your life.

You choose.

Sugar and caffiene are gateway drugs based on that logic. Define loser. I know many highly successful people who smoke pot. Are there people who were destined to be losers anyway who smoke it? Yes. What your missing is pot lacks something the others have. Addictive properties. People who start using Heroin after smoking pot are the exact same ones that would have used it as there first drug had they had access to it.

:Q

I didn't know you were that hardcore about it.

You may as well add alcohol to that list. I mean, come on.. you know the drill. Alcohol fscks you up more, it's more damaging, it can cause violence.. etc, etc.

What is the difference between smoking a joint after work or going to the bar and having a few beers? There isn't any. Both are just a way to mellow out and enjoy the rest of your evening. As you said, you pick your fate, you choose.

If you choose to let it screw you up, that's your problem. But don't punish everybody because of the few.

The problem with "hard" drugs such as meth and heroin is that it's virtually impossible to function in society if you're a user. The same isn't so with alcohol and pot, as long as you aren't stoned or drunk 24/7 and worthless.

:)

Surely you can see what I mean.

Besides, it's all irrelivent anyway. It isn't the governments job to dictate what we can and cannot willingly put into our bodies. However, it should be their job to teach and educate the masses about the dangers of drug use. That's the only way to fight drug use.

I laughed all through DARE, and that was way before I even thought about trying any drugs. Most people can see through their lies and propaganda from a mile away. Have they ever thought about telling the truth?

Again, it all depends on YOUR personality/chemical makeup. Everyone is different. There's a limit on what I'll say here, on camera. :Q

Suffice to say, MOST people are better off not experimenting to begin with. You try Drug A. Drug A is nice. For X Amount of Time. ("X" being a week, a year or ten years) Then Drug A gets boring.

You try Drug B. It's nice. Very nice. It's expensive...but hell, you work hard, right? You commute 6 days a week, you work 12 hours per day...nobody should tell you how to relax or spend YOUR FLUCKING money, right?

Get it?

Hey, I have lived in a glass house, so I can't throw stones. I'm a much better person today for being the sum of my experiences. I can pass a urine test and get hired anywhere.....can YOU?

Back to topic:

Hawaiian - pakalolo (not pakaloaloa as Cypress Hill mistakenly calls it; and you can probably get 99 other names off their "Temple of Boom" CD)

That's all any of us are..

And no, I couldn't right now, but that is an entirely different issue....

It is not my employer's business what I do on my own time. Period. There are no Ifs, Ands or Buts about it.

As long as I come to work on time, do my job 110% and leave work late, it simply does not and should not matter.

Drug tests are one of the most blatant invasions of privacy in existance today. It boggles my mind how they became common place and acceptable.
Edit: Just to clarify, "on my own time" are the keywords there. It is not acceptable to come to work while under the influence of any drug.

Plus the fact that they seem to single out pot smokers. THC is one of the only drugs tested for that stays in your system for more than 24-48 hours. It's ridiculous, really.

I could not be hired because I smoked a joint a week ago, yet some tweeker could pass the test after 3 days.

Bah. It's not the solution.

Of course I can understand that, and I'll agree with your "Most people.." comment. That's why I say drug education is the key to drug use prevention, not lies, propaganda, and a multi-billion dollar "war" on drugs that is beyond impossible to win.

You could just as easily switch "drug" with "woman/gf/wife" and the absurdity would become clear. While some may bore easily, you can't paint everybody bc of a few's dysfunction. Are people safer ((less exposed to risk) by not experimenting with adultery/hard drugs? Of course. But will a Playboy (assume before the wife :) ) turn you into a cheater? Hardly.

Crap. You just HAD to put it on my level, didn't you? ;) Hey, I feel very passionately about certain things...to each his own.
