slander or free speech

As long at is factual, and not a deliberate attempt to do harm (this is a grey area), it is not slander.

Russ, NCNE

oh its factual, just not very good about the company. Kind of like that Enron exec that warned what they were doing was wrong and nobody listened. This company, mine, is so shady...

As long as you speak the truth, it is not slander.

The truth is the best defense against slander charges.

Of course, you had better have independent and objective, legally obtained, court-admissible evidence to prove the truth of your statements, should the matter go to court.

But, defending oneself in court and proving your point might just be biting off more than you can chew.....not to mention making it so much harder to get a job in the same or related field.

<< Is it slander or free speech if you talk bad about an ex employer, as long as it is all factual?? >>

Key word: Factual

It IS illegal for you say something false or malicious that damages a person's reputation.

That may not stop the ex-employer (from a lawsuit), prob. best to be quite if this is in a public forum.

Heh. Yeah, and as long as the judge or jury says it is not. Are you willing to bet, at the minimum, thousands of dollars in legal fees to prove you are right?

I was a witness to all of it, and I am sure that our competitor would love to hear from me. As far as a similar job, my knee is toast so I can no longer be a paramedic or anything of the like.

Yeah, but you may want to review your former employers privacy policy and non-disclosure agreements before you leak confidential business materials to a direct competitor. That is illegal.

we dont have a non disclosure, its emergency medical services. Do you think we have a proprietary way to start IV's? No such problem here.
