Slackware, games, and lag

I recently formatted Red Hat and installed Slackware 9.0. So far, it runs great with dropline gnome. I installed Unreal Tournament 2003 and NWN, and I noticed a lag with my mouse when I am playing. It makes UT2k3 unplayable, due to the nature of the game. Anyone encounter this, or have any ideas on how to fix it? Thanks 🙂

I wish I had more than second-hand information, but I heard this little trick about your problem.

Try setting the mouse sensitivity higher. I've heard that fixes many of those issues.

Thanks for the try, but I still get nasty problems. Only now they are faster and more pronounced 😀

Anyone else? I am using a MX700, if it matters any.

What's your mouse protocol in XF86Config? I've seen setups that pick up one protocol on "Auto," but work better by requesting a different protocol manually. Try "IMPS/2" for starters, if you haven't already.

Mine is MouseManPlusPS/2. I'll try that one though, thanks.

Edit: I changed it, and it makes it a bit better. The mouse still isn't smooth though. Would the wireless have any bearing on the problem?

Try setting the mouse resolution in XF86Config.

I change the resolution to 100, and it is about the same. I saw al ine in my XF86Config that had it at 256, so I changed it to that, and it made it worse. Any ideas? Its hard to play UT2k3 with shockrifles if I can't move right.
