I just came from seeing Michael Moore speak to nearly 15,000 in the Univeristy of Arizona McKale Center. He played to the hometown crowd, reading letters from Arizona servicemen stationed in Iraq and bringing local celebrity Linda Rhonstadt to the stage. His comment regarding the piracy of his new F9/11 DVD: "Burn, baby burn!" Great to see this many folks out for the cause!

It's great that he's promoting movie piracy. I'm sure his DVD publisher is just thrilled.

Like Neil Young, he realizes that the free distribution of his intellectual property only makes the message more valuable.

I'm not arguing that - just don't expect him to get any more DVD deals any time soon. :p

Maybe it's just me but IMHO it could easily be a wash if not a benefit to have some of your material pirated. Most of the CDs I've purchased in the past few years came after I had downloaded "free" versions from P2P.

I imagine many of these kids have never seen Canadian Bacon . . . but even if they download F9/11 for free they might fork over a few bucks to buy Moore's other films.

When Moore can match the Wildcats' attendance and bring in something like 75K for a one-man show, his management will get over the loss of revenues on material that is too dated to fit the model of DVD marketing in the first place.

I don't really have a problem with "test driving" like Bali mentions but to use someone elses work they labored to produce without paying is theft.:( I imagine his distributors/producers are pissed off, you know the ones who bankrolled this effort and expect some sort of return on thier investment?

Note to self: Do not invest in hollywood/new york entertainment stocks with this tide of people in the world who download rather than buy.

Oh wow, I didn't know that he was the director of CB. I've only seen parts of it, but I thought it was pretty funny for a slapstick type of movie.

Way to go Michael! I wish there were 1000 of him getting the word out. He delivers the rest of the story that the media ignore.
