SL-75DRV2 Purple Ray problems

Just got the board yesterday. Have some weird problems sometimes. First of all system doesn't start up sometimes, the fans turn couple of times and the system shuts down. This happens maybe every 10th try. Brand new Enhance 350W AMD approved power supply. When the system starts up everything is just fine. Hasn't crashed or frozen on me once. I am running XP 1700. Other wierd thing is the temperature sensor, the ITE Smartguardian shows Temp1 as 201C and Temp2 as 45C and makes a warning sound everytime I start it. I have a good Vantec heatsink/fan. My heatsink is not even warm. I can run 3dmark in loops and the system doesn't crash. What are Temp1 and Temp2 sensors, which one is motherboard and which one is the processor. Is the sensor broke or what 🙂?

Temp 1 is the CPU, temp 2 is for the thermister lead which you need to install if you want to get a true temp reading from the temp 2 readout. It default reads high if you don't. I attached my thermister line with a tie wrap to my power supply to board cable just between my vid card and the cpu heatsink.

Make sure you have your cpu in the fan 1 location, the yellow one. The yellow fan connectors (2 of them) are the only ones that will report RPM. Your fans need to at least have 4000rpm to be reported, as anything below that will not read.

I would remove your current Smartguardian program and install the latest one on the Soltek website for the board. 201C is out of line, I would look at the readings showing up in bios and see what they are.

I get the same readings with the included software, even more strange, MBM5 reports Sensor2 as being -55C.
I followed the instructions on the mbm website for my board so...
All I really care about though is the CPU temp, which works 🙂
