My quest log is insane right now. I'm sure I have over 100 miscellaneous objectives, and about 20 real quests. I don't do them. I talk to people here and there and otherwise wander the world. I love it.

Koldak(?) was killed by the Silver Hands, but nothing happens when I return to the Companions HQ in Whiterun - people wont talk to me.

Apparently its a known bug, and I had cleared a specific cave (that I just happened to come across in my travels); and that cave was supposed to be part of this Companion quest line. Pretty lame.

I'm pretty sure I've killed a couple/few questlines this way, no major ones (yet) thankfully.

I do seem have some sort of werewolf bug or something though. My log says I'm 90 days in, but I've been a werewolf for 85 of them?! No wonder I never get the sleeping bonus. And yet, I completed the companions questline/ritual.

Apparently listed as a bug here. :\ Sucks because I do remember the sleep bonus working for a while after I finished the questline. Dunno how/when it glitched out.

Yea, I had a companion quest bug where I killed a dragon in my travels that one of the quests wants me to kill. Not only did the quest break, but I had to reload to a previous save because it also bugged my ability to get companions to follow me.

Any tips for killing hired thugs as a character with weak combat skills? I'm level 5, but the levels are mainly from stealth and speech. I've been doing 70/30 stamina/health, but guess I should focus more on health.

They attack me in every town and the guards just run away. The only bounty I have is from stealing a horse which was after they had already been sent. I have murdered a lot of people, being with the dark brotherhood, so I'm sure it's due to that.

Melee is pointless as they usually kill me in two hits. Yielding doesn't work.

Edit: oh yeah, forgot you can hire companions. Got me a meat shield and armored him up. Can't wait to see those thugs again.

So I started over. I abandoned (kept one save just in case) my level 57 kittyman I put 160 hours into and made a Dark Elf because there were too many perk choices I just wasn't happy with.

Now I'm 28 already, maxed my smithing (almost made the enemies too strong in the process...) and am putting my perks exactly where I want them, and I'm being smarter about my stats, too. On my cat I raised his stamina WAY too much...

I'm also just blowing through the story and not doing a single side quest until I finish.

I found Skyrim really favors fighters and mages. The stealth route while it does get very very strong eventually is very weak early game. But if you want to stick with it I would start doing alchemy and start managing poisons and potions to help you out. If you can't resort to stealth cause you have already been spotted you need all the help you can get.

Alchemy is a skill I have been working on, but is it supposed to be so slow? It's at 19, and I made over 15 potions and 6 poisons without an increase.

No problem though. I'm going to stop worrying about stats and skills and just go adventure.

Alchemy has always skilled up incredibly slow for me too. Like it seems like it's broken-ly slow.

I'm At level 42. I have seen in two separate places dragons acting very erratic.
They fly backwards and glitch. They will stay away from me. I will try to approach them but they fly away backwards. They too far away to attack with any weapon. Hoping this will not affect the outcome of some quest.

Stealth archer definitely does get quite strong. Most strong enemies don't take more than a few arrows for me to kill...though at level 51, they really shouldn't take much effort either. Most enemies generally go down in one shot.

Improve items as much as possible, using +smithing potions and +smithing items that were enchanted while using +enchantment potions.

My glass bows currently do 283 base damage + 24 deadric arrows
So for sneak damage: (283 + 24) * 3 = 921 base damage. And I'm not sure whether fire/ice enchantments count in that, so +75-150 if they do.

+potions/poisons

- whatever armor/resistances from the enemy.

...and I haven't even maxed out sneak, archer or enchantment (can't wait for the double enchanted items).

A sneak archer can be damn devastating at higher levels. I do remember struggling in the beginning though.

Sounds like glitches reported from the recent 360 patch. Supposedly they're released another patch soon to correct those. Should really affect much. Just concentrate on non-dragon quests I s'pose.

Where's a good place to hunt animals for leather? Someone said the woods outside Riften, but there were no animals there, either night or day.

I know I could buy it, but hunting is fun and I need the bow skills.

Huh, I just run around outside anywhere, except snowy mountain tops, and find rabbit and foxes galore. I remember seeing a LOT of deer outside Solitude last night.

Head for the mountains. Doesnt matter if day or night. Foxes, elk, bears, whatever; tons of them.

I have to say, I started a new character--an assassin--and the whole experience is not only completely viable now when compared to Oblivion, but it's actually fun. My sneaking skill isnt 100 but it's fairly high, so that coupled with my Thieves guild gear and I'm practically invisible. I've had guards walk right up to me, while I'm crouching, and not even see me.

Plus, slowly creeping through dungeons with bow drawn, slowly picking off enemies is really fun. I once fought a Dragon Priests from the shadows, picking at his healthy slowly, without being seen once.

After playing a slice-and-dice one-handed melee Redguard, I'm finding this to be a really nice change.

tons of ice wolves and polar bears in the northwest by the waterway north of solitude.

It is really fun. I love the that "knock" sound when you get your 3x sneak critical strike, and the rag-doll physics take effect on a one-shot killed body in flames.

My next character will be a mage for sure though. Some scrolls I've been able to play with have certainly been fun.

Has anyone else played for hours only completing a few quests? I am 17 hours in and have completed 2 quests. My favorite thing in RPGs is cities. The more the better, especially if they are distinctive as the ones in Skyrim. I love the semi-underground one (markath?)

I'm just glad Skyrim has finally become its own game. I spent so many hours playing Morrowind and Oblivion that just looking at their color palettes made me physically ill, which I felt after loading Skyrim the first time. Now I can look forward to hundreds of hours before it makes me sick.

Yeah, I love the cities too. Though I haven't seen anything as impressive as the Imperial City in Oblivion, with the palace, the different "boroughs", the sewer network that also connected to certain houses, the prison, etc...

Oh yeah, any arena type things in skyrim like oblivion? I haven't found one yet but loved the arena in oblivion.

It takes a lot more than that. I had to make about 300+ weapons/armor to get my smithing to 100, and I've enchanted probably 200 items to get my enchanting to 88. I've probably made 20 or 30 potions and my alchemy is only around a 23. I do have 400lbs of ingredients in my WhiteRun house ready for a marathon alchemy session some weekend

i'm usually only using my bow. i stopped leveling at 17 but i'm @ 50+ with archery. my sneak is at 100 so i was getting raped early on with piss poor DPS. i'm doing better now that i stopped leveling.

it is tons of fun. i love sniping people from long distance for 3X damage, have them try to find me, give up, and then doing the process all over. some quests make it a little difficult so i just pop a flame atronach if i get into trouble and have it tank for a little bit.

leveling archery seems to take forever with me. i need to switch stones i guess and harrass the next troll i find. having them regenerate health is kind of nice. there is also an exploit with ____________ that i could take advantage of.
