Yeah, sorry about that. I normally don't respond to threads much. So I scroll up from the bottom, reading responses, and when I find one I just immediately reply. Then I go back to scrolling. I just happened to keep finding posts I wanted to respond too and kept immediately replying, too lazy to read the whole thread first and then reply to all.

how do you think I got to ~43k some ridiculous posts? :p

Oh god no. Down with TOR.

I think that for every one of you that loathes skyrim, there's probably an equal number of those that find the same unimaginative mundanity and re-hashed, re-skinned content in ToR.

see? :p

So the new standard of gaming excellence is now reduced to how many times it can crash per hour?

I do love the patch whack a mole game. 1.2 fixes the corpse at wedding and dragon corpses not disapearing (how do you miss that?) but broke magic resistance and made the dragons fly backwards. 1.3 breaks skills fortified over 100. PS3 version has lag and crashes causing filesystem corruption and Xbox has draw distance problems and some reports of the same lag issue after 100 hours. PC with 4GB patch has been good to me though but I doubt Spike is giving GOTY to the version that only 14% are playing that requires an unofficial modifaction to get stable.

I call BS, unless you game at like 1 hour a time, or maybe don't quicksave ever.

I started with no crashes, but they kepe getitng more frequent as I play more. I am at 1 per game session about now.

CTDs vary wildly from one player to another. I've played > 44 hours, and only had 2 CTDs (after alt-tabbing several times.) The game has been very stable for me, though I'm still on patch 1.1.

edit: yay 3,000th post :awe:

55 Hours here.

I've had ~4-5 CTDs. Barely worth mentioning, all things considered. In a game where you can save anywhere/anytime you want, having a crash every 11 hours or so of playtime isn't a big deal for me. At all.

That's the problem CTD vary from person to person. The 59 page thread says a lot when players can run other games fine and Intel Burn Test,Primetime,Fumark etc for many hours but get CTD with Skyrim says a lot,if I was beta testing Skyrim these issues would of been top of my list and hopefully sorted, fact is they have released a few patches and admit it needs more.

I've not even mentioned how many buggy quests etc....it might be game of the year in a few years time with modded content and latest patches etc..oh wait by then there will be newer better games out.

Anyway it does have issues and if anybody is in denial have a look here http://forums.bethsoft.com/index.php?/topic/1270631-crashes-during-gameplay/page__st__1160 (CTD thread was started by Bethesda so they are aware of the issue, asking for your DxDiag report).

I still would not give it game of the year since nothing stands out,I also consider myself a RPG fan.

Its an ok game; probably better than oblivion (which I thought was rather poor) but not sure it is the best game out there. It'll probably get the GOTY title just because it is a american a+++ title; but not really sure I would rate it the best of the bunch.

Right now I'm leaning towards dragon knight saga for enjoyment and witcher 2 for solid story.

I have no problem with Skyrim as GOTY, at least it is not another shooter. I have to admit though, a couple of times while playing Skyrim and killing the same wolf or bandit or forsworn enemy for the nth time after trying to find a pass through the mountains, I thought to myself, "Dragon Knight Saga was more fun than this. I wish I could just fly over these damn mountains." I have not really had major stability issues though. I just went over 100 hours (yes I have no life) and have had only one CTD. The only issues I have are that you tend to get stuck a lot and cant move without restarting.

Edit: Oh yea, the dragon corpses that dont disappear. Kind of hilarious, but unbelievable that they would not catch this.
I have one in Riverwood and one outside the Dawnstar sanctuary.
