skyrim is goty

Yay, now they can put a meaningless little trophy sticker on the box. 😛

Don't get me wrong Skyrim looks like it well deserves it, but the Spike VGAs have been meaningless to me since their inception.

I wish it had a CTD sticker on the box 😉.

Yeah, the game of next year, when they fix all the bugs and include DLC's which were really just parts of the game cut out so they could sell DLC.

Haven't had many stability problems with it, but I'm only ~6 hours in. Still better than Oblivion where I was crashing left and right as soon as the game started.

It's definitely a good game and deserves to be up there, but everybody's tastes will dictate what should be GOTY. I didn't get into The Witcher 2 like I was hoping. It's a great looking game with a good combat system, but I just never really wanted to play it. I moved on after a couple bosses.

Did Saint's Row The Third get anything? Cause I'm like 25 hours into it, and that game deserves recognition. That game is amazing.

Bethesda makes the same game a couple times over with just a different coat of paint, never fixed the negatives in their games and obviously don't intent to, can't release a stable product, and it deserves the game of the year???? Well I guess that's the same reason CoD is consistently rated top as well.

It is GOTY. I dont see any other game better deserving the title.

I didn't have much issues at all with CTD and with few mods, it is gorgeous.

Its an ok game; probably better than oblivion (which I thought was rather poor) but not sure it is the best game out there. It'll probably get the GOTY title just because it is a american a+++ title; but not really sure I would rate it the best of the bunch.

Right now I'm leaning towards dragon knight saga for enjoyment and witcher 2 for solid story.

pfft...compared to Skyrim, BF3 is over faster than sex with an overeager ... well...BF3 nerd.
Skyrim gets you going all night loooong, baby.

Multiplayer. I played BFBC2 multi for over a year.🙂 Now BF3 fills that void.
Haven't played Skyrim yet. Oblivion is my one of my favorite games ever. I'm excited to play skyrim just not at $60 price point.

Skyrim does have alot of issues, but to have 50 hours into the game, and hardly scratched the surface - that is GoTY material. I don't know when I'll go back to finish the story, but I do know I'll play it multiple times over the next few years.

The Witcher 2 was a pretty big dud imo. Ten hours in, and it just felt boring. I know Skyrim's combat is pretty weak, where you can sit on a rock and kill 20 tough creatures with arrows while they circle the rock, but at least it isn't frustrating like many Witcher 2 battles. I might play it again, but I doubt it.

that never stopped anyone from doing it before.

It's now, simply, a value/late release version of a game. Kind like PS's "Greatest Hits" re-releases.

per spike:>
awesome

yeh and did you see some of their other "winners" and I use the term extremely loosely..

fuck Spike.. they are obviously PAID for like every other review...

seriously Portal2 best PC game and best multiplayer? are you fucking shitting me?

I'm with you in that I hate the ever-encroaching concept of DLC, but when a game at release has upwards of 100 hours of content on one playthrough, I don't see much to complain about.

and still plays and looks like a 10 year old game.. fucking retarded..
I was a fan of Oblivion.. but that was a long time ago.. Skyrim brings NOTHING new...
and in fact less as some of the bets parts of Oblivion are horrible now.. Dark Brotherhood blows now..

Im sorry I played a few more hours thios weekend TRYING to see what others see and I do not see it at all..
I see a HOLLOW CONSOLE GAME WITH CRAPPY GRAPHICS AND CRAPPY OLD HAT COMBAT.

Its garbage..

15 hours in and I cant bring myself to boot it up anymore...

Witcher2 and BF3 are so much more of a 2011 game and much more worthy of the title..

Is there a way to see total people playing BF3 right now or over the last week like there is in steam? Skyrim has been topping the Steam activity charts for over a month now. Other games have been good but I don't think anything outside of BF3 comes close to the amount of players that have been playing this game for so long.

You are comparing different games, however you could argue next week with "The Old Republic " released they will have a huge fan base too.

Skyrim was not a great game IMHO ,reason why its nothing new ie follows same old format of Oblivion etc, main storyline was not great ,graphics not great so I'm finding it hard to see how it is game of the year, having played 100 plus hours in Skyrim I feel I'm giving my honest opinion, its not a bad game but nothing in it really stands out.

When awards are given to obviously undeserving titles, it cheapens the award for all future titles that did deserve accolades.

The thing that always confuses me about GOTY awards is that they always just pick the most popular game that came out during the holiday season. This year it seems to be skyrim.

Not that I disagree with it, but other years they have made some ridiculous choices for GOTY based on holiday season popularity. It's all just about advertising anyways. Most reviewers have their heads so far up their asses you can hardly take their viewpoints seriously. Many game reviewers will even admit to not being hardcore gamers which is the truly mind boggling part of their profession.

Maybe Spike does, but ME2 won like every GOTY under the sun (more, specifically, than any previous game) as a January release.
