I saw this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tjZ1pII5188
And decided I wanted to improve Skyrim before I play. Don't know what an ENB is or how mods work...hoping for something simple.

What do you guys think of those mods? Any one/s that stand out to you as good?
I've also seen mention of seasons of tamriel a few times. Seems to be a weather mod? Not sure if good or not, weather may be nice but Id rather have a nice realistic world first.

I don't want to change the core game just improve the graphics (well maybe some unofficial bug fixes too). I especially want to ensure I can see everything from far away, I really hate it when stuff magically pops in as you get closer. I also dislike the super blurry background thing. Many of the ENB mods in that video seem to have that issue, and most of the ones that don't seem to make the game ugly to me. Hopefully some of these things can be adjusted.

This will be on a 4790k GTX970 512GB SSD and 16GB RAM @ 1080p 60Hz
I'm hopeful this will run anything I can throw at it. But I do realize Skyrim can be intensive so I don't want to go crazy on mods, keep it like 35FPS minimum ('cause 30 just aint good enough :p ).

Thanks!

Some mods combined with a 1440p/1600p dsr should do the trick.

Show us some screens when you're done.

Obligatory STEP post: http://wiki.step-project.com/Main_Page
Cliffs: It makes Skyrim more purty, more stable. Add on whatever else you want on top of it.

Obligatory ENB: http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/36067/?
Cliffs: Vividian ENB is the bestest ever. I change ENBs nearly as frequently as my undergarments, this one stopped me. (Disclaimer: I still change my clothes)

Show off of OLDER versions from my own setup:

Disclaimer: I spend more time modding Skyrim than playing it. It's like it's own little minigame of endless fun.

I followed the Realvision ENB pretty closely and it looks very good IMO. Performance is just adequate at 2560x1600 with a single 290@1000/5000. Loading and configuring over 100 mods took 3-4hrs but my game has been stable thus far.

Basically I followed SkyrimTuner's list all the way down to the Generally Recommended mods section. I used 90% of that list and then a couple out of the Character, Face, and Skin Mods section (not into the whole naked NPC thing).

I'll have to give that a try.

I use RealVision as well. I think it looks good. Skyrim ends up looking a good generation ahead of what the original was once you get through modding it.

I'm not sure how many mods I've installed, but my plugin list is 81 long and my Data folder is 22GB large.

Do the above first and see how you like it. (I assume you've installed the patches) Will run fine at 1080p. However, before installing mods, investigate and use a Mod manager, Loot and TesVedit. Those tools are essential and may take some time to learn. I suggest Gopher's Skyrim tutorials on YouTube.

+1

I use Mod Organizer and it's easy to use. You can integrate Tes5Edit, SKSE, and Loot right into it.
