I think it works good if you have broadband and you have friends that use it, otherwise it's kinda a waste.

my sister used it fine skype user to skype user. She couldn't get the paid service to call a normal phone to work.

Had a few calls...worked fine once I got the stupid mic un-muted (XP auto-mutes it every time you log in or something).
Have one over-seas relative call me on SkypeOut (PC to POTS)...ok at first, but soon a nasty echo. Regular Skype (PC to PC) seemed much better, no echo. Not as convenient as the phone!

Skype rules. I use it weekly for a 4-person conference call to talk about business(es).

Very nice for conferencing. Also have found SkypeOut to work very well, despite the negative comments to the contrary.

I call Europe daily (PC to PC) and the quality is often better than through the phone lines. I have an adapter that connects Skype to a real phone so I am not bound to a headset. Teleconferencing is a pleasure and both the chat client and file transfer feature are very useful.
