Ok.. I just recently signed up with Skype.

Now how many of you use this as a primary phone.
I had Vonage before, but cancelled it awhile back. Since the voice quality became crappier and crappier as time went along.

Anyone else experience this with Skype ? ( I got the unlimited Skype Out plan ).

Also Linksys CIT200 users
Quick Question. Can you dial numbers directly from the phone ?
If so, were there any settings you played with ?

When I try to make calls by punching the numbers in from the phone, I always get a busy tone.

But when I use the address book contacts, the call goes through without any problems.

i have it setup at home with a DLink DPH-50U box with our old wireless handsets, mainly as a way to ring a phone as we use cell phones for our main lines, but sometimes somebody leaves theirs upstairs or downstairs or somewhere they can't hear it ring, so the skypeIn number lets me ring the phone where they can hear it

and i use it once in a while

Can you directly dial from your old wireless handsets ?

I'm not quite sure why I can't directly dial from the phone itself, instead of using the saved contact list.

I got the half price. (Main reason for me signing up)
I just figured out how to solve the busy dial tone issue.

for the Linksys, you have to put the " + " before the 1 xxx-xxx-xxxx

I use it all the time, got hooked when they had the free offer then took them up on the $15 offer for the year. I use it for both local and long distance, saves me a ton vs using ld on my home phone.

you have to use a prefix and suffix, read the manual
for the dlink it is the country code, 001 (instead of just a "1") and then after the number you have to press * to "dial"

so it isn't as easy as POTS , but being able to reuse the old cordless phones is nice

There's a browser plugin that will turn any properly formatted phone number on a webpage into a link directly to Skype. It makes it pretty nice when you're looking up a pizza joint or a restaurant or some other business on the internet, you can just click on their phone number and automatically dial them from your computer.

Yea I got that plug in..

now when I click the number it dials, but I get no signal from the Linksys phone itself.

How would I set it so that I can get the sound and waht not from the handset ?
