6 works fine, but eventually I think this version will be the only one and you'll have to update to it.

Skype 6 is still working. Don't know if it will be blocked because it uses the newer server based back end as opposed to the peer to peer network really old versions used. That'd why old versions of Skype don't function.

Is anyone noting anything new? It seems to be very similar to the latest versions of Skype 6.

It's not extremely different, just some UI tweaks and some security fixes. Now you can interact between skype and lync so that is potentially useful.

Another FAILED attempt to make something "better" by trying to emulate the GUI abomination also known as "Metro". Skype is ugly as hell now to a point I am hesitant to use it.

I also reject to download the recent update of CCleaner, simply because they too thought they need to go "Metro" at all costs.
