Normally I would be up for a big dumb stupid movie as long as it has robots and explosions...but I'm having trouble shaking off the horrible unoriginality of the whole thing. Its like Independence Day fucked War of the Worlds and spawned the robot from The Incredibles. And we all know humanity is just going to get its ass beat for 2 hours followed by uploading a virus into the mainframe or some guy chucking a grenade at the queen alien. Ugh.

Yeah, I can't wait to watch it either!!

All I want to know is if you understand why Hollywodd would choose the F-22 over the A-10.

I'm not up in arms about this, of course the F-22 is the most futury of our fighters so it'll get the screen time.

It would be a lot more fun for nerds though to see an A-10 laying waste to that thing with its huge cannon, though.

Amusingly, it seems people think I'm "up in arms" for mentioning it :p. The thing is... do you think that most people can even tell the difference between a F16 and a F22? I honestly doubt it. I barely know the differences other than what I've read in articles about the recent F22 drama, and what I noticed was the dual engines in the back where I believe the F16 only has one (?).

Probably because the Warthog is too awesome to use ;). The aliens would end up confused as to why it doesn't go down when they shoot it!

EDIT:

At least I didn't complain about the stealth bomber they show dogfighting :p.

I started watching the original Star TrekTV series. HORRIBLE props but hte story lines are interesting. I find that origianl series to be better than 99% of what is on TV today.

As soon as someone realizes this and writes a good TV show things will change. Till then, Hollywood is to stupid to try anything different.

FWIW: If you ever see the Dreamworks history (busienss history) on CNBC, WATCH IT! They know how Disney was screweing up with their animation house. It wasn't that people wanted 3D. It was that the scripts for the animated movies sucked.

That's because the original Star Trek and even some of the newer things, made plots out of current subject matter, and even explored the taboo.
Most modern TV is about the quick laugh, cool fight scene or just how completely f-ed up they can make the characters lives.
It also helps modern TV writers that most people attention spans are now measured in seconds to a minute or two, so most dialouge is transplanted with cool effects.

What is the over/under on the RT score for this surefire stinker?

I'm looking at the credits and I see no screenplay other than this under the writers name and its directed by the same people who did AvP Requiem (which was pretty goddamn awful). I'm going to guess it will suck.

It's not that odd, in fact it is fairly typical of movies that are likely to bomb.

Ya, test audiences let hte studios know how it will do. This is why you see summer releases get pushed out to October and November sometimes.

I hate watching trailers or previews anymore. I always try to mute them or turn the channel. Too much is given away in movie trailers, too many good scenes are used up.

Haha. So, watch some Asylum movies (they do lots of the scifi channel original stuff). In Megashark vs. Giant Octopus, there is a scene where the giant octopus swats a fighter from the air. They use stock footage for it, and it alternates between F-22, F-15, and F-18 depending on the maneuver they are showing.

It's all part of the magic.

Absolutely terrible movie. It's not even a sci-fi flick. It's more like a teeny bopper drama / eye candy flick. They never explain anything, and the ending was just retarded. And I hope their actions aren't what "normal" people would do, because that is just scary.

4/10, if that.
