So the aliens decided some little island in the Pacific wasn't big enough. It looks like we have a Crysis on our hands.

Ya, so this opens in 3 days and not a single review is up at Rotten Tomatoes. So it looks like no previews are being given to critics which usually means one thing.

Too bad, I had hopes for this one.

... the acting looks over dramatic, another Cloverfield with Independence Day graphics.

War of the Worlds parody with minimal military cutscenes and a lot of civilian dramatization of the average "stupid" American.

The ships are a rip off of the Starcraft II Protoss air units, and the lightning petals dropping are ripped off from the War of the Worlds lightning ground-implant.

Probably another Transformers II with ingenious trailers and a terrible story line.
What the fuck is your point, really?

Oh, and I'm sure those involved with creating the movie had a conference call and said "Oh fuck guys, we can rip off an alien species in a video game! Have you guys played Starcraft 2? lololol".

Well fuck, I hope I just got trolled. If so, good going sir. If not, I am dis-a-fuckin-point.

The jets being used in the trailer... aren't those F22 Raptors? I noticed there was a ton of dogfighting going on, which I thought was actually the job for the F16 (and now F35).

The latest trailer is available there. I just watched it yesterday, and I think it's the same one that was shown during football today.

A completely independent movie, but with big FX - pretty interesting reading about the movie. The people who made it independently from big studios, actual own a famous FX house.. when it was basically finished, Universal was all "we like."
I guess the shooting locations were very, very minimal, and the shooting itself was quite low budget.. a lot of it was shot in an apartment. And of course, basically a cheap cast.

But I want to see it none the less - the idea of the Sirens concept being turned around as invading aliens (who like the way we taste)... quite intriguing. Probably end up waiting for the BD release.

Funny, I was thinking that it looked like a low budget movie but with big FX from the trailer. You just confirmed everything in my mind.

It's a movie. People recognize the F22 and it looks cool, so it goes in the movie regardless of what combat role it plays in reality.

Normally I would be up for a big dumb stupid movie as long as it has robots and explosions...but I'm having trouble shaking off the horrible unoriginality of the whole thing. Its like Independence Day fucked War of the Worlds. And we all know humanity is just going to get its ass beat for 2 hours followed by uploading a virus into the mainframe or some guy chucking a grenade at the queen alien. Ugh.

It's a movie. Relax.

The F-22 is our premier air superiority fighter. Both at long range and in a knife fight it is a much better aircraft than the F-16 and F-35. That said, we aren't expecting to fight a war with anyone that would give us enough of a run for our money than the difference between the F-22 and F-16 would be significant, so it was decided that the F-22 was too expensive.

For the kind of fighting they were showing in that clip, an A-10 (I think they are out of service now) would have been ideal.

All I want to know is if you understand why Hollywodd would choose the F-22 over the A-10.

I'm sick of CGI, and seeing this movie trailer is what made me realize it.

I started watching the original Star TrekTV series. HORRIBLE props but hte story lines are interesting. I find that origianl series to be better than 99% of what is on TV today.

As soon as someone realizes this and writes a good TV show things will change. Till then, Hollywood is to stupid to try anything different.

FWIW: If you ever see the Dreamworks history (busienss history) on CNBC, WATCH IT! They know how Disney was screweing up with their animation house. It wasn't that people wanted 3D. It was that the scripts for the animated movies sucked.
