Don't even get me started on those figures.

I did end up buying it for them, but wish those figures were optional or something...they already have them from their wii set. Maybe I can resell em.
How's replay value/length on this game? Fwiw, I was turned off when I saw the wii version cuz the visuals SUCK. Seems to be wii in general though (this was my first real experience with a wii). I freaking loved spyro on ps1, so im kinda excited knowing this is a spyro game.
The YouTube vids of the ps3/Xbox look surprisingly good and actually fun though! Better be cool since I dropped a ton of money on this stuff, tbh I'm not even sure what you do in the game.
Thanks warcrow!
Welcome!!
I'm playing it on the X360 and I have no idea how long it is, or even how much content is in the game because I've only played it for about 4-5 hours. I refuse to read any reviews because I dont need to know any more about the game--I love it.
But in terms of content, if I had to guess off of what I've seen, it looks like there are a ton of things to do in the game. Several times when playing through a level I've come across a warp gate for a specific Skylander. So for example the game will say something along the lines of "This gate can only be accessed by an undead Skylander", then I just swap out my currently Skylander for an undead one. This triggers the gate and suddenly I have a little side area to go through filled with baddies and collectables. So far they've been very short, but I like them.
Like Soundmanred said, the physicality of the game--you know, the Skylander miniatures and the portal itself--seems very gimmicky at first but once you actually play with it you'll see that it's just so much fun!!
Oh and one of the side things are these challenges--and there's one for each Skylander--where you're teleported to an arena and have to accomplish a certain goal within a time frame. Usually I find these kinds if things annoying, but each one gives a bonus like (+9 fire damage) and such, so there are benefits to completing them.
For instance last night I was playing one where you pick any Skylander and then have to run through this haunted dungeon and destroy 6 paintings to release these trapped souls. Along the way there were zombies too, so if you're playing an fire elemental Skylander the zombies can be killed. If you're playing a Skylander who doesn't have a fire attack then all you can do it sort of stun the zombies and run around them. It was challenging enough, too me 3 times to beat it, but it was great.
This game is without a doubt my Darkhorse winner of the year, and I hope people give it the time it deserves. It's a nice break from all the seriousness in my backlog.
