SkyHawk MSR-4610 mini-review

My two cents: For the price, it may be a decent aluminum case, and also for the price, there's not much to be lost in taking a Dremel cut-off wheel to it.

Someone had mentioned in another post during the last week that "tall, narrower" cases were preferred on various cooling angles. I just discarded an INWIN midtower (steel) that resembles the design of the subject case for this thread in its tapered frame, from the 5.25" bays to the power-supply. I contemptuously called it "R2D2."

So on the one hand, for the price, for the aluminum, it might be a good case for modding, but for the basic shape and size, not so great. It might be a decent challenge, though, to make it work for something . . .

good case, i have a skyhawk with a different face. i like the fact that its cheap and aluminum. sturdy case with good potental for modding and its not hard to cut up a $25 case. some of the stuff does not fit the best, but it all works

Newegg for $15

Besides the Dealsonic one looking nicer, it also has vents in the front face. Where are they in the Newegg version? Vents? What vents? Also, I like the front ports better than the edge ports. Besides those things, the Newegg version is indeed cheaper for the same chassis. Just needs mods to let air in the front - or is that why it needs all those side panel vents?

I got the MSR 4610 from dealsonic , in one piece

I reversed the front intake to exhaust and modded two filtered 92mm on the side cover.
Plus cut out the screen on the rear and left that as an exhaust.

The factory fan holes on the side cover appear to have been punched with a nail, because on the inside there is a large rough burr around each hole.

This is only my third case purchase but what was saved in purchase price is more than made up in DIY detail work. The OP reccomended that the HDD cage be moved to the left side as it will get very close to the mainboard. This was done, glad this wasn't found out during the build. Because of OP's problem with the power-on switch. I will allways check the reset and power-on switch first thing with a powered test light or OHM meter. Mine tested OK. 1 less headache. It will be going together Friday. No OS for it yet.

The whole point to a cheap aluminum case.

Cheap = not worried about cutting into it

Aluminum = makes the work easier
