Cubic inch if you're John Madden.

What else would suck is if he jumped right over a huge flock of migrating geese. Nothing like hitting a goose at a few hundred mph.

I'd assume his parachute would be well deployed by the time he reaches the altitude where geese fly...

Edit: Also he wouldn't be going a few hundred MPH at this point either, just to clarify.

A guy I know just called me, he's at North Battleford airport and they've begun filling the balloon. They are committed to launching today!

God this guy has no luck! I guess it's a two balloon operation--one smaller balloon helps lift the bigger one up initially. Unfortunately, the smaller balloon managed to snap free and blow away on its own...

So the mission is scrapped for today, no news if they'll be trying again.

Is the team going to record the actual jump? At 900FPM, it'll take a little over 2.5 hours to hit their target altitude.

It took Kittinger 3 hours to reach 30km. Good to know even balloons progress in 48 years...

Geese can fly at up to 30,000 ft you better believe he will still be going damb fast at that altitude.

At 19 kilometers up, if his pressure suit fail, his blood could begin to boil because of the air pressure

a) it would be the lack of air pressure
b) haven't we killed this myth off already?

And once again, the Canadian's attempt to get into space with hot air balloons has been foiled.

I read the NY Times article over the weekend, and Kittinger said he had a suit malfunction on the way down and his hand swelled to twice its normal size. It's a "hostile environment", he said...

I read his story and saw the pics and vids a while back. He's in the running for baddest mofo of all time.
I believe it was on his first jump that he felt like when he jumped out of the basket he wasn't moving and that he was actually drifting away from Earth. Can you imagine the feeling of being so helpless up there. He was actually "falling" back to Earth but he was so high up that it was hard to notice.

if he decides to DROP this far down...why not like...cycle around the world if you will. just get some sort of wings, and 'flutter' down, itll take a few days or so, but it'd be sweet.

O rly?

Strike two...

Bar-headed Geese regularly migrate at an altitude of 30,750 feet.

Even at 10,000 ft he will be motoring...
