Can't hurt if its the kind that actually moves some air... (ie: has a fan) the passive electric ones do work, but they take a lot longer to freshen the air. The best you'll be able to do on short notice is somthing like Oust spray that will knock most of the tiny spray particles you smell out of the air.
Good news is that unless the skunk sprayed your house directly, you shouldn't need to do any real cleaning... the smell will just go away on its own.

will oust really get the smell out? i know that skunk smell is chemically different than a lot of other common odors (i believe its an oil based sulfur particle). this is the second time this week this has happened... if oust really works i might have to go get a costco pack of it. thanks for the tip.

i dont think it sprayed my house directly but i wont be 100% sure until tomorrow morning (if the smell is still here that means it sprayed here.

and yeah, i know an ozone generator is supposed to work on it but i dont have one on hand and isnt an ozone generator somewhat bad for your health (im just guessing about this one)?

We have alot of skunks around our place and usually the smell disappears by the next day.

Of course, the direct hit my dog took was another story. Even after several bs & peroxide treatments, the smell lingered in his fur for months.

I think he was sniffing the skunk's butt since it was his face (nose in particular) that stank.
