That is pretty sweet, I have never been a star wars game fan but these trailers for Force Unleashed makes me actually want to give it a play.

The DMM and Euphoria seem like a far more useful thing than Havok when it comes to the number of games out there that could take advantage of realistic materials response and more realistic AI.

Don't get me wrong, I am a fan of the idea of putting physics into games, but truly physics (of the earth-based kind) are really boring. Who wants to play GTA and have your car only able to clear 3ft off the ground because of realistic physics?

These start wars guys have it right, use physics but amp-it-up into super forces. Now you get something that will entertain me.

For your reading pleasure.

http://www.naturalmotion.com/files/white_paper_dms.pdf

Digital Molecular Matter, better known as simply DMM, is a middleware physics engine developed by Pixelux. It is designed for computer, video games, and other simulation needs by attempting to simulate physical real-world systems. Unlike traditional realtime simulation engines which tend to be based on rigid body kinematics, the novel use of FEA allows for DMM to simulate a more general set of properties. Developers assign physical properties to a given object (or portion of an object) and then at runtime they behave as they would in the real world (e.g. ice, gummy bear, etc.) In addition the properties of objects (or even just parts of objects) can be changed at runtime allowing for additional interesting effects.

DMM can also be used in a slower-than-realtime setup for Maya to ease the creation of physical effects in animations.

Thats what I guess I been trying to say. We just don't know whats coming next. All of these can be used by the cpu including Havok.

So multi cored cpus are going to be pushed and pushed hard in up and coming games.

I have been told that intel is snooping around Pixelux. So maybe another company getting bought up here. I haven't heard anything about Euphoria but wouldn't surprize me a bit to see Intel buy this company also.

It would make since . If Intel wants to be a player in GPUs. They need to buy up the tech. To bad AMD can't even borrow the money to buy any of these companies.

Man I am glad I am easy going type that doesn't let things bug me. Its alright guys . I enjoy that you LOL. Thats a good thing.

But its pretty clear that you haven't a clue whats going on. So in the future if another poster . Says something simular . Please don't make fun of him. I have had a good life so I am not shook up all that bad about it. I don't think you would like to know what my family thinks of those remarks. It brought tears to my wifes eyes. I laughed and gave her big old nucky hugh. I am pretty tuff guy. I know I can beat this thing . I know I can.

There is a lot more stuff on this game at Utube it is a must see for us guys.
? I honestly didn't see much complicated physics in there, other than the trick they use - sort of like 'gravity gun'. Crysis' CPU bench shows better physics, IMO.

Edit: It looks like the game isn't meant for PC. First for PS2/PS3/XBox360, then (gasp) even for Wii. Can't imagine anything that current crop of PC can't handle other than cranking up grapical details.

To be fair lopri I think everyone would agree there is an extreme lack of innovation in the gaming community. The proof? We are talking about fricken Star Wars themed game as being the showcase of next-gen gaming tech. Star Wars? From 1970's?

There is a dearth of innovation in modern civilization to be sure. We drive the same auto, use the same mobile phone, same microwaves, same TV's same internet, same movies, blah blah blah.

Even look inside our computers, couldn't do any better than Pentium juiced up so they just started duplicating copies of it just like fricken commodity DRAM on a DIMM.

No where you look are you going to find anything really innovative since we set foot on the moon, everything around us is just incremental improvement and optimization (the cost reduction has been nice) of the technology and ideas created by that generation.

It is one big yawn-fest and will likely never change unless bio-medical really gets into transferring human conscieness to another human brain or silicon analog.

The very fact Lopri that you draw a comparsion of the force unleashed to crysis proves the point I was tring to make. Even tho this game will probably be never ported to PC isn't Important. I used it to present an example of what Idontcare and I were discussing.

But we do see things differantly. As I don't see were Crysis uses more game physics at all. Point is however Crysis doesn't run all that great on a PC now does it. That was the point.

I was also waiting for a response like yours.

This is why. Fewer and Fewer games are being made for PC. THe reason is rather simple. MS and Sony and Natendo are throwing gubbs of money at game developer.

Well people WAKE UP. Intel entering into this market may be our salvation. Intel has the Muscle that ATI/NV could never have and never will have. Intel will change the landscape big time.

I have always believed it would be Intel leading us into the promised land. If you been paying attention PC are losing Game share.

Once consols have completely taken the market. Console prices will explode upwards.

Intel believe it or not has the power to change this migration to consoles. RTRT would put PC back in front. AS no consoles have been made to use them. Intel going X86 assures us the cell won't be capatiable with these games. Until the next generation of consoles.

If your a gamer Intel is the company we all should be pulling for.

Another area of concern for all of us has been NV and the way its meant to be played program. ATI never had the muscle to change developers minds on this . INTEL does and NV dam well knows it.

Am I an INTEL fan . YOU bet your ass I am. Because I believe in the PC as the best gaming platform. Among all of its other capabilities.

Mark my words Intel is going to help all of us PC gamers. No matter what side of the fence were on.

I mean look at the hardware in Xbox and you can buy it for that kind of Money.

You guys are constantly talking about Monoplies. Yet we have 3 console companies using Monoply tactics to sell software. But at the same time killing PC gaming . This should be illeagal and by the letter of the law it is.

Hey Nemesis did you see this from HotHardware? Basically completely backs up your previous "old man" musings regarding skulltrail being an asset to speeding up game development.

http://www.hothardware.com/New...re_EightCore_Platform/

Dam you for being "on" to something. I happily stand corrected on my previous posts. Looks like the D5400XS is going to be a real productivity boost for those companies who decide to invest in the hardware.

Even a $15k workstation is chump-change compared to the compensation package a company forks out for a US software programmer, for that $15k workstation to boost the productivity has got to pay dividends rather quickly.

Here's a company Intel recently bought . Read the overview.

http://www.projectoffset.com/technology.php

Why would Intel buy them? Not a facetious question, I don't "get" why Intel is getting into the business of coders. Supporting them by investing, sure that's just smart investing, but outright buying and bringing internal? What's the big picture here?

Sounds to me that the "HumpTulips" would be a safer buy than the Skulltrail. After what I just read, I feel that the western Washington town seems a bit more tame.

Its not, never will be.................. Hope we all learned something from this thread tho. Many different opinions with different prospectives.
