So my roommate and I stumbled upon a show called Skins on Netflix (instant).

We watched the first two episodes of Season 3, and we were absolutely hooked.

It's about a group of teens in Bristol, England, finishing up high-school. The show centers around each of their lives, and each episode is named after (and focuses on) one kid in the group. Tons of alcohol, drugs, sex going on.

I think the draw to this show is the fact that you get so connected to each character. By the end of a season you feel like you know these people in real life, it's weird.

I recommend watching Season 3 and 4 first. They were awesome. Season 1 and 2 are good, but the first few episodes of season 1 are hard to get into. The show got much better as it developed.

Oh dude, if you've only watched the first part of series three watch series one, it's the best one.

I've never really done a marathon for a show, but we watched all 4 seasons in 4 days. We absolutely cruised through it.

That's cool that you liked season 1 the best, definitely wasn't my favorite though 🙂

That's cool, if you like Skins might I recommend you watch Misfits next, imagine skins crossed with heroes 😉 Then... The Inbetweeners, funniest thing to come out of the UK since the Office.

well, yeah, that is quite common. that's what I mean.

I think the only thing that worked was The Office. Though it has likely dragged on well beyond it's tolerance level. ...that is what we do best.
 
They should just leave the english shows as is and import them. I read that they were planning a US version of Peep Show, and I cried a little.

I'm actually slowly watching this right now. Through the first four or five episodes of the first season/series.
 
watching this now (due to this thread in fact)
Loving it.
It will fail in the US for sure. Lack of language, nudity etc. Just isnt going to work

If you like it watch Misfits, it's just finished the second series in the UK and it's incredible. Skins was the big thing in 2007/08, in 2009 it was the Inbetweeners in 2010 it was Misfits, watch all of them they are all amazing.
 
I rather enjoy this show. However seasons 1-2 are currently the best and the finale to season 1 I thought was fantastic. Seasons 3-4 were kind of strange and somewhat off character as how I had gotten into the show with the first 2 seasons. However 3-4 had the most attractive cast yet!

Exactly, completely agree Series 1 was almost perfect.
 
I'm only like 3 or 4 shows deep to be honest. Sadly I cant watch it while the kids are running around the house, so my window to watch is quite small.

I just watched the episode centered on Jal and her Musician of the year. Her brothers were incredibly funny even though I couldn't understand 90% of what they said. The one thing I love and hate about this show is it's so heavy on English slang etc. I love all the colloquialisms (holy shit I spelled that right on my 1st attempt) but sometimes they intermixed with the heavy accents and often shitty sound found on many Brit shows, get to be a bit much for us Yanks to understand.

Edit: Sadly I read some spoilers on Jal's (and Chris') storyline.
 
i started to watch the 1st season and got maybe 4 episodes in and realized it sucked ass so i quit watching it.

it was like watching someone's facebook or myspace page...

I wasn't a big fan of the first season, but maybe that's because I started with season3/4.

Still loving this show. I try to get an episode or two in before bed (hard show to watch with two little kids). I've gotten a few other friends hooked too.

Misfits will be next.

I will admit I will give the US version of Skins a run too... if for nothing else but to compare/contrast. I doubt the US version will be good, but it will be a hit. I will guarantee that.
