Skiing in Europe

Hey everyone. I'm in London for the year and I want to do some skiing in Europe. The Alps look absolutly stunning, but they seem so hard to get to. It's easily an 8 hour train ride from London, and you have to change trains twice. The thing is, if I wanted to go for longer I could do the eurostar ski train deal. But we just want to go for a weekend. Flying to Geneva and taking a bus doesn't seem that easy either. So is there an easy way to access the Alps that I don't know of? Or is there any skiing that is near a major city, or is in Northern France that would be more accessible by train??

I heard on the radio this morning that the snow in Europe has been so light this year that they've had to cancel a number of ski competitions. They were looking to relocate some of them to Colorado.

Ski Breaks.... Maybe find some cheap airfare here?

I got this link from the ryanair.com site....so you might be able to get some cheap travel....just not sure if you can get anything from London. You may have to depart from Paris.
