I still can't believe they make kids wear helmets to ride a bike... and now you can't even skateboard.

Behind every law, warning label and stupd rule is a lawsuit. :|

No it is not a crime, but SOME kids are irresponsible and have no respect for others property and can do quite a bit of damage with their boards. That is why many property owners complain to the police and get these kind of laws on the books.

barbequeguy is totally right

there are the ones who do it properly and in a safe area...however, MOST (not all) skateboard and deface public and private property.

I wouldn't mind if they kept grinding in an AREA meant for skateboarding grinding; however, the side of a concrete is not the best place. Soon, the concrete will crack and eventually, it causes further damage.

by that logic, some people drive drunk, many people complain, therefore we should ban driving

Actually, with the recent supreme court ruling, he very well might have dragged him down to the station.

Driving while intoxicated IS banned.

Most scateboarders that I know DON'T deface public and private property.

See my original post, "SOME", I tried to make it clear that a few irresponsible people were ruining it for everyone, I'm not trying to spoil your fun.
I am giving you an open invitation to come help me and my neighbors repair the ground down concrete curbs, gauged railings and clean up the scuff marks that are everywhere. While you are at it, plan on coming by twice a week to help pick up the trash from the trash cans that are used for target practice and God knows what.

<< What? No offers to come and help clean up? >>

If you are refering to me, I have never touched a skateboard in my life.

And I don't think one should blame skateboarders for destruction of sidewalks and such. It is just, in many cases, another form of transportation.
