Skate (360)

I Literally spent 5 hours, trying to do a Nollie 360 flip, (Ride the hubba, Paul Rodriguez's challenge)

I was so angry, ready to throw the damn controller out the window, give it one last try and nail it.

Either im nuts or my mind plays games with me..

other then the fact the game is ridiculously hard at times, i love it. so realistic, its not tony hawk where you have to 360 twist flip while picking your noise, rubbing your belly and combing you hair at once.

If you think the sport of skateboarding is somewhat interesting, give this a try!

the game has alot of replay value, as well as is extremely long. ~30 hours.

Give the game a rent, you'll more then likely buy it 🙂

usually that one last try fails miserably for me, then i go to sleep, wake up and first shot BAM im a master

Haha, nothing a good night sleep can't cure.

I've been trying to decide whether I want to buy this game or not. It looks fun enough and would be a nice change from the totally unrealistic Tony Hawk games.

I don't have an internet connection to my Xbox or an Xbox Live subscription, but I just might have to set it up to try some demos.

All you need is a Xbox Live Silver (free) account to download demos.

I really enjoyed the demo, but was waiting until I could find it used or on sale or something. This game is definitely different (and to me more fun) than the TH series.

haha! what challenge made you pissed?

It was one of the Impress a Pro Skater ones, or whatever. I had to get 500 points while landing on a giant book statue. And since you were jumping from flat ground, to a high ledge, there wasnt any room to do any tricks besides a flip-trick, and those sure are not worth 500 points. So you need to do a lot of work in the area to try to get a 2x multiplier. And then try to land a flip trick worth 500 points on the book. While like 50 people keep walking by. I finally got lined up perfect, ready to go, and ran into a stupid person. Ug I threw that controller like the wind

I remember that, i had a tough time, until i accidentally grinded on the side of the book (the left side, up the incline) and did a flip trick out of the grind, was worth around ~700 points.

So I just finished playing the demo twice and it seems fun enough, but I do understand how it could get really frustrating.

And the people always seem to be in my way.

I think i might of broke my controller with this game, my left joystick feels much more "Loose" then the right one...

I figured it would be the right one that would break.

If you think that one's hard, wait until you get to the stupid challenge to open the top floor of Matrix Plaza. You have to do a 360 flip to FS crooked on a curved bench. If that weren't hard enough, because good God it's hard to land a 360 flip into a FS crooked, there's a guy walking around the bench who will block you. Wow, that challenge sucked so damn much... I beat it, finally, and I never want to try it again (I actually have tried it again since beating it, never managed to beat it a second time).

The ride the hubba one, by comparison, took me 3 tries. I spent some time figuring out the Nollie 360 flip so I could nail it on command (this was while I was skating around, not even trying challenges). When I actually did the challenge, I managed to hit the Nollie 360 flip without fail, I just jumped too far (it's a tiny ledge).

One of the harder challenges for me was the X-Games megaramp, because I figured to get a big score, you had to do 720 flips with Christ airs or whatever, which led to a whole lot of bailing... When I figured out that holding a grab for the first jump and hitting a 1080 grab on the second would get gold, I was shocked.

I've gotten pretty good at the game. I can do a standing varial kickflip/heelflip to late kickflip/heelflip on flat ground (which requires extremely tight timing), and last weekend I finally landed my first double frontflip off the monster ramp at the Mega-compound (which you unlock by beating both the Skateboard and Thrasher story lines).

Quick tips: If your skate stance is regular (not goofy), the challenge starts you off on the wrong side of the bench to land in a FS grind, so move around to the left of the bench and set a session point. Practice the 360 flip ALOT, because you don't just need to hit it, you need to be able to flick it as fast as possible to get enough height in the jump to land in a FS Crooked (if you don't have enough height, you won't be able to position your board forward quickly enough, and you'll land in a 5-0). Aim for the middle of the bench, where it's lowest, and just starting to rise again, you'll have the best chance of getting enough height and the nose of your board will be more likely to hit the bench before your tail. It's not enough to hit a crooked at any point, you actually have to land IN the grind, so if you don't hit that crooked right off, don't bother swinging around to try and go into one. You have to land the trick too, so be damn careful when jumping off the bench that you aren't going to hit the fat man.

It's worth it, the top of the Matrix is actually fairly cool. There's a ledge you can jump off and (if you aim perfectly) land on the long kink rail down the double flight of stairs; makes for really cool replays. That, and once you get that far, you're close to finishing everything and unlocking the mega compound, which is totally badass.

-EDIT- OK, I just tried it again and beat in about 5 minutes, but it was total luck (I pulled a 180 in midair and still somehow landed in a FS Crooked). But I lied, it doesn't get you any closer to opening the Mega Compound, it's only for the Matrix upper floor. Which is still cool, but nowhere near as cool as the Mega Compound.
