Sk7 vs Slk800

I've done a search and nothing came up. How does both of them stack up to each other seeing that they're almost the same thing?? The only difference is the 10 dollar price difference. I'm looking to upgrade to a 80mm fan as my sk6 is giving out too much noise. Svcompucycle has the sk7at 19.99 which I think is a good price but the slk800 is at 29.99.

Which is better?? How much difference would I see from a sk7 to a slk800? Anything like 2-4C is not really worth the 10 bucks I think. 🙂

Good luck with SVC! I ordered an SLK800 and they sent me a SK-7. I'm going to try and call them one last time tomorrow to see if they actually do something. Nice article BTW!!!

SLK-800 is still a little bit better. When I look at SK-7 and SLK-800, they look the same and I wonder why the SLK-800 costs considerably more... -_-;

SVC has a really nice sale going on right now. SLK-800 for $29.99 and SK-7 for $19.99.

i have a sk-7 on my xp1600+ OC'ed to 1670 and its a cool 40C under load, and from whta i hear the slk-800 is even better. i also have a vantec tornado 84 cfm fan, which prolly has somthing to do with that number.

Try emailing them. From my past experience, they're quick to reply and do something about it. If they send you a SLK800 and ask you to keep the sk7. Consider selling it to me. 🙂

Thanks for the article mechBgon. I'll read up and see what's going on but I saw one test using a 55Dba rated fan. That's gonna hurt the ear. 😀

The slk800 is built better but darn if I cannot get any difference other than 2-3 c max. I prefer how narrow the base of the slk800 is so that air can circulate more around the cpu. The sk7 has a wider base and prevents that. But with both an 80mm fan overhangs and that helps to cool nearby components.

The sk6+ is a good one too and about even with the ax-7.

What I took away from the test was primarily that the SK-7 is not far behind its big brother using the same fan. Presumably it would perform almost as well as an SLK-800 using other fans too.

I sent them 2 emails already...

I have the SK6 with a 21cfm/28dbA papst 60mm fan. Would moving to the SLK800 with the same fan improve my cooling? If so, by how much? I've been seriously considering this upgrade but need some more informed responses before I purchase it. Thanks. If I buy, I'll sell my lapped SK6 on here to anyone who wants it.

It would be wise to upgrade the fan along with it as copper does not release heat that effective against aluminium and now you're using more surface area of the copper, thus trapping more heat. I'll be getting a Sk7 or a SLK800 and we'll see what happens. 🙂

What's a quiet 80mm fan to go with?? Quiet but comes with a reliable cfm?

I recently bought an sk7 for the media pc I have in my living room. it is very nice. Keeps my XP1600+ at a pretty decent temp and I am using a panaflo 80mm so the thing is darn near silent. I also have a panaflo in my psu.....love them ultra quiet pc's!
