If you have any questions concerning this Hot Deal please refer to my previous thread which should answer most of your questions, if not all of them.

To see a copy of your local OM ad go to OfficeMax.com in the lower right click In-Store Features and you know the rest. Some ads will show the FREE 64MB CF offer and some will not, dunno why.

1) Find the OfficeMax.com $50 off $250 coupon (FW has it search for Omax) and click it.
2) Go to OfficeMax.com and search for A40 or 20169158, click add to cart, proceed to check out and conclude your purchase.
3) Find an online competitor (using PriceGrabber.com or PriceWatch.com) who is selling the Canon PowerShot A40 for a low price, has it in stock and has either free or low shipping. Now request an OfficeMax.com price match against the competitor. IF OfficeMax.com doesn't charge the competitor's shipping it is possible to get this for as low as $190 but that's a big IF.
4) I'm not sure if/how you would go about claiming your FREE 64MB CompactFlash card as advertised in this week's flyer, any ideas?

Rossman : have you actually had success with this? Does Officemax accept coupons after a pricematch? The cheapest I found on Pricegrabber (not including shipping) was $256.

No I haven't since I didn't order my A40 online I bought my A40 @ OM B&M when they were offering 128MB CF for free, cost me $249 after $50 off $250 coupon which I printed and brought with me.

Several people have had success in PM'ing, there are a few suggestions in this thread, as always YMMV.

Even at $249 with FREE 64MB CF this is a smoking hot deal but now that OM.com has this digicam back in stock you could potentially get it for $190 after PM & coupon if the stars align just right.

The 50 off 250 was a link to Officemax.com that applies it automatically i believe. The link is in another thread. I'm surprised that it is available through officemax.com again. I called in last weekend .. the CSR allowed me to backorder the camera, apply the $50 coupon and still get the free 64meg CF card (She looked up the free offer in my local advertisement). Status on my order shows it to be delivered on Sept 25th.

Total came out to 268.00 shipped to CA.

Also got one through the Dell deal for $244 shipped in case they cancelled the OM order.
I have an OM 10min away so a return wouldn't be a prob. Might sell the extra to my sis.

Keep the deals comming rossman

Thanks

Nothing, it's in the sales ad. The tricky parts are using the coupon and pricematching.

About getting the CF card - just call it in and say there's a free 64MB Lexar CF card, they will already know about it and give it to you with no problem. You can also give them the $50 coupon over the phone (either a link or a A-XXXX code) and get the order number. Later on, you can try to PM this, but the place that we used to PM, is NOT listed on Yahoo! anymore, so I doubt you'll get more than $20 off extra from PMing. Good luck.

Thanks for sweet deal, I called and they did not know anything about free CF put me on hold for 10 min then told me they sent order for CF to warehouse to be shipped with my A40 hope i get it. I dont know how to get it for $190 I paid $249 total it says on there webpage they go by the lowest price you pay after coupons, and no one sell it for less than $249 that I can find? That 64 CF cost $40 alone brings my price down to $210 the way i see it, nice ( My Wife is gonna kill me when she looks at bank statement ,lol)

You're welcome and congrats, the retail value of your Canon A40 + 64MB CF is around $350 and you only paid $250, that's a $100 savings tell that to your wife.

The retail on this camera is not $350. It can easily be had for $280 or less in B&M.

Retail (NOT HOT DEAL) prices:
Canon A40 = $300
64MB CF = $50
=====================
Total $350

Just a forewarning for those that might try this deal out. I did this deal back the first week of August when they were offering the Free 128MB CF card. It has been on backorder ever since.

That's weird. I did the same deal then and it was on backorder, but then I got it delivered a few days later. I would call and make sure you aren't getting screwed.

Cool. I thought these were on back order?

So what do you think of the digicam so far? It's size, buttons, menu's, etc.

I strongly recommend rechargeable batteries (read my post dated 09/24/2002 12:11 PM) for your new digicam.

It doesn't compare to the Canon A40 (which is $50 more but worth every penny). Most importantly I'd prefer Canon's use of CF vs. Panasonic's SD (secure digital) which seems to be rare and expensive. Don't get me wrong Im a big Panasonic fanboy when it comes to cordless phones, TVs, VCRs and DVD Players but this Canon A40 is awesome!

Just read the reviews in the first post, all of them.

This camera is amazing for the price, I have done 20 pics they all look great, did a few in backyard in the dark of my dog and they came out great with flash. buttons and size is perfect for me, I be going on 5 hour plane trip and have plenty of time then to read every part of manual and learn about camera. I am going down today and get Canon S820 printer should do some nice 4x6s.

I got in on this deal a few weeks ago. The total was $225 shipped (with free 64MB CF). So far, I'm happy with the camera - it has tons of features (there is a $20 accessory that lets you attach any standard 52mm lens). As for image quality, I'm not too thrilled. But it's not bad. The colors just aren't as vibrant as I'd like.
