I have no clue, but you could find out by taking the LED out of the Mouse since you're going to do that anyway.

Bust open the mouse and see, then put it back together while you go out and get the LED.

Ummmm... I'm not sure that's a good idea, I'm sure the recognition engine is tuned to be most accurate with light in the red spectrum

No it'll work, you just have to have rather bright Blue leds to make up for the contrast loss. I don't have the mouse yet btw.

Yes it works.

Infrared LED's work and they're fun too as it appears the mouse is broken because it doesn't light up but still tracks.

i'm guessing manufacturers might use red LEDs because theyre usually cheaper for the brightness

I always thought it was because red was easier to pick up surface differences with....oh dammti I dont know the scientific wording for it :p
