six more weeks of winter

When is this stupid tradition going to die? I can't stand hearing about it in the "news".

It's the beginning of February. Of course there's going to be more cold weather for the next ~6 weeks. What, do people think that it's even possible for everything to just magically warm up at this point?

Its 32 here but its going to drop down into the teens tonite. That means lots of ice and the salt trucks don't run at night.

it's in the 40's here... 2 days from now, it'll be in the low 20's :frown:

the official "winter is over" date for me has always been St. Patrick's Day. I can't ever remember a big snow storm hitting after that weekend.

Bill Murray tried, but he got pwned by the time loop.

I was just thinking this morning of how fun it would be to shoot that little fucker out of the guy's hands while he's holding it.

Not that I'd actually do it, of course. But it would definitely be fun to see that brown turd disappear! There'd be no shadow of any sort to see. 😀

It's a scam.

Since 1887, Phil has seen his shadow 97 times, hasn't seen it 15 times, and there are no records for nine years, according to the Punxsutawney Groundhog Club.

There is no way that it has been sunny in February in Pennsylvania 97 out of 112 years (not counting the 9 no records).

I heard in the original script he was actually stuck there for hundreds of years.

I want to punt that lil bastard. I'm so sick of the cold!

It will to keep going on and on and on as long as people perpetuate scientifically unsound beliefs. You know, like religion. Zing!

I kid, I kid... I totally believe in groundhogs day.

I know it's just a silly tradition but it doesn't make sense that one possible outcome is "winter is over" when winter is never, ever over by early February (at least not for the northern parts of the U.S. where most people live).
