Siteadvisor software?

I wondered onto this site which says it is a program with a database saying if a site is reliable or has lots of popups, spam and other bad stuff.

Is this any good or more crap?

This is an absolutely invaluable extension! I use it, but it is more for people who don't have "internet common sense". I got my mother to install it that way she doesn't get suckered into downloading something from freedownloadHQ.com or any site that's similar.

Good point. So many older people see those 'you have spyware, click here to remove' messages and immediately click. This could prevent that?
Might get my mom to install it.

Personally, I'm always scared to click search engine results now myself. So I'm gonna try it out too. But if I read correctly, it only works on a few search engines. I guess when using other non supported search engines, you could copy and paste the URL into the URL checker on Site Advisors website(?). So it seems to be claiming it can tell you if a website is going to have driveby download malware install?

Knowing a search result is bad before you click it could be useful, but as far as it claiming to tell you if a website you're on is bad, if you're already on it, isn't it too late?
