site with good selection of computer desks

I went on Staples, OD, OM & Amazon looking for a new computer desk. What I'm looking for is something that's not too big, has a nice keyboard tray and built in USB ports. Don't need cabinets or a hutch. I can go either way on the last 2, I really don't care. I saw a desk like this a few years ago. It was black, medium sized, had a USB hub and a power strip built in. I can't for the life of me find it. Seems like Staples and all the office stores have a very minimal selection of smaller desks. I don't have room for a big L shaped one, don't want a wood colored one, and I'm not really looking for one that towers 6 feet in the air either.

You can't really get the full feel of cabinetry from an on-line image. Visit the stores and see them live. Staples, Office Depot, Knock-On-Wood, Copenhagen, etc. Sometimes you can get a good deal on a floor model. You also can better check drawers, doors, and pull outs, as well as construction.

My budget is about $300 tops, I might be asking for a lot with the USB + Power strip. But I do want a smaller sized desk without a hutch or anything. The ones I'm typically seeing in the size range, are about $150 or so - minus the USB & power. So I'm hoping what I'm after is doable, I might be willing to bump up my budget $100 more if the desk I'm looking for.

to corkyg - the problem there is, I went to all those stores and didn't see what I wanted, if I'm able to find the desk with the features I want, I'm pretty sure it won't be at a B&M store. So, I'll have to end up buying it without being able to mess around with it in a store.

OK - that makes sense. This site has as good a selection as any - but the power strip and USB ports is not something commonly available. It is too easy to just add your own strip and a powered USB hub.

Desk

Of major significance here is free shipping.

You might also like to check local thrift shops, furniture stores, and yard sales in order to stay within your budget. Good hunting!

Well I know the desk I want exists, I have seen it in the form of a uber desk from Lian-Li, but it's like TWO THOUSAND DOLLARS! It does however have slick built in USB ports and hidden power outlets. Maybe my dream of finding this in a reasonably priced desk isn't going to be a reality, but MAYBE somebody makes a similar desk for about 1/8th of the price 🙂

Here is how ya do it. Buy your desk... Then find a spot to mount a nice power strip. Make a diagram of the power strip and use a recipicating saw to cut the shape out somewhere in the desk. Use a sander to sand it down and make it purdy. Mount your power strip to the desk, wham, there you go.

You can do this same thing for ethernet switches, usb, etc...
