sis900 lan doesn't work in 100bt?

I had a sis900 hooked up to a 10/100 router w/static ip a while back. I then moved to verizon pppoe using their westell dsl modem.

Now I just bought a linksys 4 port 10/100 and my onboard lan won't work at all (from the initial boot) unless its in 10bt mode (set in the OS).

If I set it to autoconfig or 100bt, I get a cable unplugged and a blinking amber light on the LAN, and blinking lights on the router. The other devices work fine when this happens.

When I set it to 10bt, everything goes back to normal. When I use another pci NIC, everything works fine on that. I know the lan port and cable is good because i've tried with other computers.

thoughts?
