SIS 735 question.

I plan to build a new system using either the ECS K7S5A or the LEADTEK 7350KDA. Any reason to spend the extra $36 bucks to get the LEADTEK over the ECS.

I plan to use the following parts with the system. Most I will buy, but the sound card and video will come from my old system.

AMD Athlon XP 1700+ 1.47GHz Palomino 3D CPU Retail - with Heatsink and Fan
256 Meg DDR PC2100 ? CL=2.5 ? Unbuffered ? Non-parity ? 2.5V ? 32Meg x 64
IBM EIDE HARD DRIVE 40GB 7200RPM MODEL
52X ATAPI INT IDE CD-Rom
LITE-ON LTR-24102B-02 24x10x40 CDRW - OEM
Matrox Millennium G400 DualHead MAX.
old SB live

Thanks, 😕

If you plan to use XP, you may want to try the leadtek, as it is very very fast and can overclock. If you plan to use 98SE, stay the heck away from it. I couldnt get mine to work stably no matter what I did and had to RMA the thing.

Funny, because many claim VIA is super buggy and SiS is the stable one, but I like my new GA-7VTXE soo much more..

I see no reason to get the Leadtek. Seems like most people have the ECS too, so you'll prolly have an easier time getting help.

The Leadtek does have the better overclocking features, but I think thats about it.

may i suggest the sis745, you should have more options on oc.
However, since 745 just come out (ECS), more mobo co. will have this later and it will be safe to avoid the first (be the tester)

lsman, I was waiting on the 745 but got tired of waiting for it. I know the 735 will be a bit slower but I am hoping it will be more stable.

BTW: Two reviews of the new ECS board came out today.

I agree the leadtek is only going to be good for the extra ocing features, plus it scores a little better when it comes to disk mark and memory scores...

To tapir,

Shows how little most of you via morons know....The via has real bugs in the chipset why the sis chipset does not...If it does please enlighten beyond the constant crap that is related to individual mobo quality control or design...Lets talk just the chipset...via bugs are highlighted at major websites, but where are the sis bugs???

Also the leadtek has no issues with xp and win98se OS....

I got the leadtek for three reasons:
1. It has ocing capabilities while the ecs is limited
2. It has three rams slots.
3. My roommate has an ecs and is very happy with it, but our systems are too close anyway so i said the hell with ecs.
