SIS 650 integrated video benchies?

actually, i believe it uses a SIS 315 graphics core, meaning, it should perform roughly on a par w/ the nFarce GF2 MX performance...however, SIS 315 cards perform as well as GF2 MX cards (the ECS one that is slightly beyond SIS's reference clocks is actually faster), but they use slower clocked SDR memory...this could translate into better integrated graphics performing, seeing how onboard RAM (i.e. pc2100) memory has less bandwidth to offer over the bus than does onboard SGRAM on most video boards.

here's a couple SIS 315 reviews i pulled up quick

chick's hardware

god, i'm back again at my own thread..

found this

it's quesitonable since it IS from SIS themselves..

also, the MX200 performance looks DAMn slow on that system...since my system (overclcoked GF 256 @ 160/210) gets over 2k in 1024x768 16-bit in 3dmark 2001

whatever tho

teh ramdac in the integrated 650 is perfectly fine for 1280x1024...it should be for the ECS 315 board as well, unless they implemented some cheap ass filters (which they mostl likely did)

besides that, the 3d isn't supposed to be stellar, but it's got to be one of the best in the integrated market...that's quite good coming from SIS.

also, i'm not planning on upgrading to a faster video board...this one suffices (hence the reason i've had it for 2years now)...also, the case i plan on picking up won't accomodate anything larger than half-height cards...there's not a lot of fast half-height cards out there...nothing much better than the SIS 315.

i'm trying to use as many integrated components as i can, while maintaining adequate 3d performance (i really only play half-life mods) and keeping the cost at a reasonable level....SIS seems to fulfill those needs, by the looks of it.

also, i could always slap in a separate AGP board if i wanted to in the future...granted the SIS 650 and 645 perform equivalently, the system performance will still be quite good.

whoa, if that's true....

i might consider such a board, that is, if i even wanted something faster than the integrated 315. (i probably would, eventually...gimmie another year 🙂)
