Ok, so I have a Sirtec 500W PSU with three rails and 31 amps on the 12V rail.
After I've changed my motherboard to a MSI P35 Neo2-Fr, I couldn't power my cpu fans ( push-pull with two 2500 rpm 92mm) from the 4 pin connector because my fans would run at full speed no matter what ( smartfan enabled in bios ). So, I choose to use one PSU controlled molex that should have increased or decreased my fans speed according to the temperatures inside the case. And that worked great until last night when both fans turned off suddenly.
After investigating I've noticed that that molex doesn't give any power whatsoever, the others work and my system seems to have not suffered anything.
My question: is my PSU dieing, it's time to replace it? It doesn't even have a full year in the "service". Did anyone else experienced something like this before?
UPDATE: Today when I turned on my computer, I smelled something like a burned plastic. Checked my computer inside and everything seemed perfect. Smelled the PSU exhaust and bang, there was the smell. The grill on the back was so hot that it burned my finger. So I looked at my PSU very careful and managed to see that the fan IS NOT SPINNING AT ALL!!!!!! Sooo, when those MOLEX died it seems that the PSU fan died too and I've been running my computer without the fan spinning since the end of May and right now we are right in the middle of a hot summer!!
I'm lucky that it didn't blew out and took other components with it. My personal advice: NEVER BUY A SIRTEC PSU.
I bought myself an Antec Earth Watts 650 W today and I hope I'll not have any problems with it. 🙁
