Sirtec PSU problem

Ok, so I have a Sirtec 500W PSU with three rails and 31 amps on the 12V rail.

After I've changed my motherboard to a MSI P35 Neo2-Fr, I couldn't power my cpu fans ( push-pull with two 2500 rpm 92mm) from the 4 pin connector because my fans would run at full speed no matter what ( smartfan enabled in bios ). So, I choose to use one PSU controlled molex that should have increased or decreased my fans speed according to the temperatures inside the case. And that worked great until last night when both fans turned off suddenly.

After investigating I've noticed that that molex doesn't give any power whatsoever, the others work and my system seems to have not suffered anything.
My question: is my PSU dieing, it's time to replace it? It doesn't even have a full year in the "service". Did anyone else experienced something like this before?

UPDATE: Today when I turned on my computer, I smelled something like a burned plastic. Checked my computer inside and everything seemed perfect. Smelled the PSU exhaust and bang, there was the smell. The grill on the back was so hot that it burned my finger. So I looked at my PSU very careful and managed to see that the fan IS NOT SPINNING AT ALL!!!!!! Sooo, when those MOLEX died it seems that the PSU fan died too and I've been running my computer without the fan spinning since the end of May and right now we are right in the middle of a hot summer!!

I'm lucky that it didn't blew out and took other components with it. My personal advice: NEVER BUY A SIRTEC PSU.
I bought myself an Antec Earth Watts 650 W today and I hope I'll not have any problems with it. 🙁

Is it just the one Molex or is it ALL of the Molex connectors on that one cable?

Well there are two Molex cables with variable rpm and they are both dead. And there is only one single Molex on each of these two cables.

Oh... they're the thermal controlled "fan only" Molex connectors? Ok... So the device in the PSU that actually controls the RPM has completely died. Which is funny because when those die it's suppose to pass full voltage to the connectors as a fail-safe as to not risk frying anything using them for power. But if the failure inside the unit was catasrophic it could have completely eliminated the circuit.

Not a common problem, but doo doo does happen.

So, I should leave it like this? It's not gonna blow up or anything?

It's already "blown up" as far as that problem's concerned. Not going to get any worse.

Ok, thank you very much for your help. I guess I'll have to forget about the Sirtec brand next time I'll buy a PSU.

Well, that stands to reason since the PSU fan is controlled by temperature as well. Apparently ALL fan control is done by the same controller, so if the fan only Molexes die, the fan in the PSU dies too.

That's actually not a good design. Most PSU's, when the fan controller dies, the fan spins at FULL RPM... not NO RPM.

The bad thing is , that I can't find the warranty for this stupid PSU, so I could rma it and sell it afterwards to recover some of the money spent on the Antec.

I was wondering, can I solder the cables of the PSU fan on another circuit, so that it will spin full speed all the time? That if I don't find the warranty.

Of course. Just desolder all of the leads from the fan controller PCB and solder them all down to the same spot on the main PCB where the drive Molexes, etc. come from.

Of course, the PSU fan will run at 100% RPM 100% of the time... so it may be best to use that PSU somewhere where you don't mind loud sounds.

Thanks for your advice. Or I might consider just replacing that fan with a silent one so it will not blow my brains out. 🙂
