From XM's website: "we will upgrade the online listening experience to near CD-quality digital audio."

ROFL! Yeah right. Near CD-quality? Maybe if you're Helen Keller.

So how many of you guys are upgrading to keep listening online? I know I'm not.

That might be a good thing for those of us that would ONLY use the online portion, I might actually pay $3 for it since i dont need it in my car or anywhere else. Can you get just the $3 online stand alone or is it only as an add-on to subscribers

It's an add-on. Normally it's $7.99 for online only.

I've considered the lifetime subscription to XM...if I get it now, I'd get free online as well. I'm curious about 'transfer' rights for lifetime subscriptions though. Typically, they hose you by saying your sub is tied to your particular radio. Obviously, the radio will eventually break or become outdated, so what then? Are there limited transfers? Are there any?

are you really crying about 3$ a month? i could work i hour and pay for an entire year of internet radio. Well worth the cost if you listen to stern in my opinion.

Just how long is "i" hour?

With sirius I think you can only transfer the lifetime sub 3 times.

Hmm... Can I still create a new e-mail address every couple of days in order to abuse their free trial program? 😉

I wouldn't give them your real e-mail address, anyway... they'll spam the hell out of it.

Way to many other free alternatives to even think of paying for online radio.

How many of those can I listen to in my car? And get the MLB channel and MLB games?

I really wouldn't be considering a lifetime subscription right now considering the growing financial problems they are facing..

Yeah, I think it is bullshit. I've been listening to Sirius ever since before Howard Stern came aboard. But for some fucking reason, it looks like an update killed my Sirius receiver. I now get Sirius that goes in an out constantly. VERY annoying. Now to cure this problem, I need to pay $200 for a new tuner, PLUS the increase per month. Can I afford it? Yes. Do I think it is worth it? I'm not so sure anymore. :|

that's unfortunate. I don't normally listen online, but ocassionally I do. sometimes theres something good in the car and I'll want to continue listening inside

oh, and I think they already offered a cd-quality option for extra money...

edit: ya, sirius already offers cd-quality for $3/month. I can't find any info on their site about charging in the future.

I'm probably going to call and bitch about it even though I don't listen online. After paying an activation fee (amount not specified in ANY documentation) and them requiring a credit card (used a gift card- documentation does not say a CC is required), maybe I'll get something out of it..who knows..

I'd pay $3/mo for lossless, but for 128kbps MP3? Heh, no.

Threaten to quit, they'll immediately send you a new receiver for free.

I had Sirius, and it was an overpriced pile of dog vomit. Yeah, I pay for a subscription and their shitty radio, only to hear themselves ADVERTISING themselves every ten fucking minutes. What complete assholes. I DON'T NEED YOUR ADS IF I'M ALREADY PAYING FOR YOUR SHIT.

I cancelled them, and they still bug the fuck out of me to this day with spam and sales calls.

I listen to Sirius 41 and I don't think I've ever heard an ad.

The comedy channels, on the other hand...they piss me off to no end...
