I bought a new car last month and it came equipped with 6 months of Sirius for free. I had a Starmate in my old car that I had just renewed for a year.

Last week I called and asked if they could transfer that subscription over to the new car and basically have a year and half of service. The CS rep was nice and a couple minutes later it was done - 18 months of Sirius/XM in the Focus.

So I was browsing around Sirius' website today and saw that if I added the best of XM to my plan I could get 3 months for free. They listed a number to call to inquire about the deal. So I go ahead and call and this lady has no idea what I'm talking about.

She goes on and asks where I saw this deal and I told her its on the front page with this phone number. Long story short I'm on the phone for 30 minutes trying to do this and she says that I cannot upgrade my plan for 6 months since it came with the car.

I was like let me see if I understand this correctly - I am willing to pay the difference in price ($4/month) for 15 months so that I can get 3 months free but I have to wait until I am done with the 6 months that came with the car. She said yes. I said thanks for your time and hung up.

I guess Sirius/XM is doing so well that they don't need any extra money. Guess thats why their stock price is doing so well

I just got a letter from Sirius telling me that my 6 free months that I got with my new car is going to expire in March.. I called up to see what kind of prices they could offer, and they wont budge from the $12.95 a month. Anyone know how to get a better price? He seemed happy to let me allow it to cancel automatically when it is up in March.

Should I wait until it cancels and then call them up to get a better deal?

twice I called to cancel and twice they gave me free months. (2 months and a new car kit the first time, and 1 free month when I called again)

They are getting ready to raise thier rates here in a month or two. I just got a notice telling me I needed to renew now before the hike. Last week I cancelled one of my radios that quit working 4 months ago. They wouldn't let me cancel it when it broke because it had a 1 year contract attatched to it. They would not let me transfer it to another working radio either...

When I cancelled they did not offer me anything at all, but I didn't expect anything from thier suckass customer service anyway. They have really gone down hill

I've renewed mine for the last 2 years at 77$ a year (XM). I keep telling them that it's not worth the regular price, and I would like to cancel if I cannot continue the current price I have.

I got a free radio with $30 gift card last summer, and I think I got 6+ free months of service just by asking to cancel at the end of every month. I actually finally canceled a few days ago because they weren't allowed to give me any more credit (also because I don't use it). But yeah, all told, I think I only paid for one month.

So just say you want to cancel because it costs too much/whatever.

They won't allow me to change the plan at all on my new Jeep until the free year expires.

I wanted to pay them some more money and they wouldn't let me.

I think they are afraid the vehicle will be traded in or something before the year is up and they will somehow lose money...

Makes no sense to me.

I haven't listened to my Sirius in months. (receiver integrated with a Pioneer deck). Honestly, I think the playlists went crap since the merger. Octane 20 is now really crappy. That channel is the main reason I got it. There are no hard rock stations in the greater LA area. I want to get rid of the receiver and get a plug in one instead, so I can try listening to it when away from the car to see if there is anything else I would like. I just don't have the patience when driving, I just want to set it and forget it.

What extra money? Just because you'd be paying a little extra per month, in the end they'd lose another 3 months, after already losing 6 months.

Is that even legal? That makes no sense to me.

They said I was under contract for that radio and could not transfer for any reason. Multiple calls to different reps confirmed thier policy and they would not budge on it. It wasn't worth the money to fight as it was an additional radio on my account at $6.99/month. It made little since to me as well, they gained in the short term but lost my business in the long run.

Since the merger the programming has taken a serious nose dive though, I enjoy it much less now than I used to.

Yeah but they advertise that on the website - 3 months free when upgrading to the best of XM. I am an existing customer since 2005. I was willing to pay for 15 more months but now I'll just wait until the 6 months are up and see where this company is headed before I give them any more money. I really only wanted the best of for MLB home plate but I'll just listen to my Yankees on CBS880 AM.
