Is it just me or has this channel really gone downhill in the past few months? They used to play all sorts of awesome songs from the 60s up through the 80s, now all I hear is late 60s early 70s hippie rock. Two Beatles songs in a row, then the Kinks. The Kinks?!

I need my classic rock fix :(

Call me a n00b, but isn't that the point of that type of radio?...

You can choose any one of the myriad of programming lineups?

Surely there's a classic rock fix...

It is, but this channel seems to have changed the style of music they've played over the past few months.

They used to play a lot of Skynyrd, AC/DC, KISS, Frampton, Stones, stuff like that. A lot of badass rock. Lately all I've been hearing are one-hit wonder style stuff, bands like 5th Dimension, Kinks, a LOT of Elton John (some of which is okay), stuff like that. Really gone downhill, and no they don't have another station which fits the bill perfectly.

Switch to classic vinyl #13 then.

Yeah, thanks for the input. Here's your :cookie:
There is much input you can give in a thread like this.

I'll get on the phone with the sirus programmers and make something happen, brb.

How are the Kinks not classic rock?

All Day and All of the Night
Where Have All the Good Times Gone
Lola
Father Christmas
etc....

Didn't ask for anybody to do something, simply asked if anybody else had noticed the change. That would assume that I'm aiming the question towards fellow Sirius subscribers, which is apparantly not you. So yeah, thank for at least bumping it up for me.

K, I got a hold of them. Do you notice a difference yet?

Have you tried Buzzsaw (Can't remember the channel). They play a lot of the bands you named. I like Buzzsaw and *GASP* Hairnation (gotta love the Aquanet Bands:)).

Sirius is cool but they tend to get in a rut. I hate it when you hear the same song at the same time two or three days in a row. I'm not sure how they pick what they play or if they have to get permission from the labels/bands. If they don't have to get 'permission', you'd think they would have just about unlimited options.

/me throwing in my .02

Kinks are NOT classic rock. NOT. They're rock, but just old rock. Not even very good rock.

clas·sic ( P ) Pronunciation Key (klsk)
adj.

a) Belonging to the highest rank or class.
b) Serving as the established model or standard: a classic example of colonial architecture.
c) Having lasting significance or worth; enduring.

I'm looking specifically at A and B there, the Kinks are far from the highest rank or class of rock, they were never really that great to begin with, and they certainly aren't popular these days with anybody except maybe the few devoted fans who think Lola was actually a good song.

So yeah, they're a rock band, and they may have been a good rock band, but they are not a classic rock band.

I suspect that it's hard to program this type of stuff. To do it well, you need to involve people who are somewhat into the particular genre of music in order to choose song lists that are not repetitive. That involves finding songs from those times that are good, but not always so well known nowadays.
