SIRIUS FOR $49

Do I have this right?

No NFL games will be broadcast on XM?
And not a single MLB game will be on Sirius?
No NBA games on XM?

What a joke!

Buy satellite radio for sports and only get certain sports not all of them!
That's ridiculous IMO.

I've been kicking this around for a week and decided to wait till 2006 for the following reasons:

1. On the way to work I listen to Stern. He's not on Sirius now, so my unit would just sit there doing nothing.

2. For music, I listen to my Ipod.

Why this isn't that great of a deal:

1. Between now and Stern's move, there will be a litany of other promotions, probably better than the current one. $50 off an crappy radio + a free car kit (that can now be had at, I think buy.com for $14) is IMO, a luke warm deal at best. Just watch a few months before Stern moves, and watch the promotions. If you just want one now, I might look at the $14 car kit and a better radio. But that's just me.

The future of satellite radio:

1. Who is going to win the Satellite radio wars? XM, Sirus? Maybe Microsoft or even DirecTV will get into the fray by buying out Sirius, XM...Then there will even be BIGGER promotions.

6. The Sony, JVC, etc. in-dash radios with Sirius or XM are going to hit the streets like crazy, probably within the next 13 months. Alpine already has one. It will eventually be standard in many cars as it already is in some models like the 2005 Acura RL

Always decent deals. If you are going to do it, it is pretty lame to wait. Infinity will release Stern prior to 2006. I am currently on good free Sirius Equip with what works out to $11 a month for a year for sub. An I also have a $49 XM Skyfi2 with car kit and 15 months of programming for the price of three. There are great deals out there. You just have to look. Do I need two sat services? No, but I am a sucker for a deal. Both services have something that I want. I like XM's equipment better. If XM got Stern I would be happy.

you do realize that a XM subscription and the extra $1.99 is still cheaper then a little doggie subscription?

xm - 9.99 + 1.99 for O&A = 11.98/month
Sirius = 12.99

Just a vote for sirius, although I don't know if I would pay $12 a month for it.

Dishnetwork has the sirius stations for free. When I am studying I find myself listing to "left of center" (The best in college, indie, alternative and underground rock.) and "faction" (Rock, punk, hip-hop and more, especially for action sports fans. sounds weird but works for me).

Yeah, I have an iPod and use it in the car, but that's just stuff I've heard before. Like the randomness of hearing new stuff on the radio.

Does anyone rip dish's sirirus to the ipod to listen to on the road? Any tools that will rip just the songs, cut the chatter and put ID tags on the song?

xm - 9.99 + 1.99 for O&A = 11.98/month
Sirius = 12.99

What about online streaming? Its included w/ Sirius, but an additional $3.99/month with XM.

XM - $9.99 + $1.99 for O&A + $3.99 web streaming = $15.97
Sirius = $12.99/mo

Now also keep in mind, Sirius is only $12.99/mo if you pay month-to-month or w/ a 6 month sub. If you prepay a year, you get one month free.

Therefore, with a 1 year sub, Sirius works out to only $11.91/mo.

wow, i think i heard that word for word on O&A. Please find something more original.

I listen to both O&A and stern via broadcast downloads. I think they're both great but all these angry O&A fans need to give it a rest. What don't you all understand about howard not being able to actually do his real show. No wonder people are always saying "it's not the same as it used to be". That's b/c he's got everybody hunting his ass. I agree, it's not like it used to be but he'll be back to normal once he's off broadcast radio.
