I was very very drunk last night and installed 2 extra rd ram modules in my friend P4 1.7. I then booted up my computer and ran 3dmark2k1. Everything was fine and i passed out only to be awoken by a loud srien sound coming from my comp. I had no clue what was going on let alone know where i was. I powered it off and the siren kept sounding, so i dove and hit the power off on the sirge protector. What was going on. I booted up today and it was fine and has been on al day.
Its really really really x 10 weird. Skitzed me out.

Intoxication + computer work are like vinegar and water, they don't mix. Could be that the sound was in your head or that the sound was not as loud as you though it was. In any event if is was something bad I'm sure you will hear it again and be able to isolate the source then.

Sounds to me like your computer was overheating. A lot of systems these days come with overheat alarms (mine for example) beeps at me LOUDLY when it's overheating (usually only happens in the summer time when it gets blistering hot in my room) . Just a thought.

I believe you mean oil and water because acetic acid (vinegar) is quite soluable in water. If you are going to use an analogy:
1: Make sure it's the correct analogy.
2: Make sure it's logical.

Im somewhat confused on whos computer it was, im guessing you installed the Ram in your computer and then your computer turned into a fire engine? If so wheres the friend come in? Anyway, sounds like either the computers over heat siren, very loud can sound like many things when your drunk, maybe you knocked a fan which stopped working when you were installing the ram and that caused it to over heat? If it was a serious error, windows (I guess you running windows) would have logged it and you would have seen when you rebooted. I wouldnt worry too much just stay sober for a couple of days and try and catch it in the act when you can deal with it!

As has already been said but will say it again just in case. Drunkness and working on computers don't go together. Tried it once and regreted it for a long time to come!!

I maybe wrong but feel the Siren Sound was the Temp Warning in the Bios for your CPU overheating! I have only ran into it a few times with systems with no cooling and JAMMED into a small cavity in a heavy wooden desk on a HOT day and the poor AMD K6/2 450 just could not breath.

What are your system specs?

Also you may have in your druken state knocked a fan cable from a header on the mainboard. Anything is possible. I made quite a mess drunk on my poor friends system! Never done that before or since!!!

Agreed.... I was gonna mention that too :p

FFactory0x It was likely the overheat alarm.

I have no clue its not mine. Id say he had it a yr and never cleaned it. Its just oddthat it happened when i installed the new ram. Should i check anything specifically inside to see if i can find any problems?

Maybe my bro should let it burn out and have Gateway give him a new faster cpu. HEHE

does it take much to set it off? Now that it runs fine was any damage done. I mean how sensitive is the thing?

It had to happen to me at 5am after 3/4 bottle of Captin. God dammit. What luck

A hi-lo Euro-siren type sound usually indicates something that is out of spec that BIOS is monitoring - fan RPM, or voltages. The simple was to get rid of it (al long as you are happy with what the items are doing) is to change all those monitored items to IGNORE.

I fixed mine permanently by replacing the power supply with a better one.
